𝗠𝗿. 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗦𝗨 𝗮𝘁 𝗡𝗔𝗦𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗡 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱

Mr. Harvey Portento, a current adviser of The Green Leaf publication and a college lecturer at Marinduque State University – Torrijos Campus, proudly represented Marinduque State University (MarSU) at the National Arts and Sciences Research Congress 2025 (NASRECON 2025). He was one of only two research presenters from the MIMAROPA region, contributing valuable insights to the fields of arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Organized by Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, NASRECON 2025 took place on February 6-7, 2025, under the theme “Cultivating Academic Synergy Across Arts and Sciences.”

Presenting via Zoom came with challenges, especially during the panel questioning. However, Mr. Portento handled it with confidence. "I felt quite nervous, even via Zoom, especially during the panel questioning, but I was definitely confident in answering their questions," he shared.

He expressed gratitude to his co-author and research adviser, Mr. Jerome Lingon, for his support and guidance. He also thanked the College of Arts and Sciences committee and Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges or the opportunity.

As a dedicated lecturer and adviser, Mr. Portento’s achievement is a source of pride for MarSU. Looking ahead, he hopes to publish the research locally and internationally and is optimistic about a face-to-face NASRECON 2026.

Students from the 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 (𝘽𝘼𝙏) and 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 (𝘽𝙎𝘼) programs at Marinduque State University Torrijos - College of Agriculture are currently undertaking their On-the-Job Training (OJT) within the university's campus.

Guided by key university officials—Campus Director 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘺 𝘈. 𝘋𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘺, Dean of the College of Agriculture 𝘋𝘳. 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘺𝘯 𝘈. 𝘔𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴, Crop Science Coordinator 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘊𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘤𝘰, and Animal Science Coordinator 𝘔𝘴. 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘙𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘔. 𝘙𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘴—students are gaining hands-on experience in various agricultural disciplines.

BSA students must complete 240 hours of training. While, the BAT students must accomplish 720 hours of training.

Training Areas:

✅ Crop Science (Cocopeat Production, Vermicomposting, Tissue Culture, and Mushroom Cultivation)
✅ Livestock Production (Swine and Ruminant)

This OJT program is designed to equip students with practical knowledge and skills, preparing them for careers in modern and sustainable agriculture. 🌱

Led by Center Director 𝘋𝘳. 𝘌𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘕. 𝘋𝘦𝘭𝘢 𝘊𝘳𝘶𝘻, along with Farm Manager 𝘋𝘳. 𝘌𝘥𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯 and Training Coordinator 𝘋𝘳. 𝘈𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘰 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘻𝘢𝘳, PCC-CLSU provides an excellent training ground for students to develop practical skills in carabao-based dairy production, animal health management, genetic improvement, and sustainable livestock farming.

This hands-on experience allows students to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world agricultural setting, equipping them with the skills necessary to contribute to the Philippine livestock and dairy industry. 🌱

Owned by 𝘔𝘳. 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘍𝘶𝘭𝘦 and managed by 𝘔𝘳. 𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢, C-Ful Poultry Farm serves as a valuable training ground for future agricultural professionals. The OJT program allows students to gain hands-on experience in poultry farming, enhancing their skills in livestock management, biosecurity measures, feed formulation, and farm operations.

This initiative aims to bridge academic learning with real-world agricultural practices, equipping students with the necessary knowledge and expertise to contribute to the Philippine agricultural sector. 🌱

The 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜 𝙁𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚 (𝙔𝙁𝘾) Program empowers young farmers and fisherfolk to take an active role in shaping the future of food security, agricultural development, and modernization. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗦𝗨) is advancing its tech-enabled campus through the 𝗦𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗨𝗦 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, implementing innovative tools to improve academic and administrative processes. As part of this, a comprehensive 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 (𝗟𝗠𝗦) training and facial capturing session was conducted on January 23, 2025, for faculty, lecturers, students, and staff.

The LMS, a cornerstone of the SMART CAMPUS Project, signifies a significant advancement in digital education at MarSU. This platform lets students and teachers get course materials, hand in assignments, track academic performance, and join the university's programs in a way that's easier and more fun to use. During the session, attendees were guided through the LMS’s features, emphasizing the importance of downloading and activating their institutional accounts for optimal use.

Led by 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝗼𝘆 𝗠. 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝗼𝗻, Information System Analyst II and Team Lead for Training and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), the SMART CAMPUS Project demonstrates MarSU's commitment to innovation and digital transformation. By embracing these advancements, the university does not only enhance productivity but also equips students and faculty with modern tools for success.

As MarSU takes bold steps into the digital age, everyone at the university is encouraged to make full use of these systems, setting the stage for a brighter and more tech-driven future. The LMS training and facial capturing initiative is yet another testament to MarSU’s dedication to creating a smarter and more efficient academic environment.

The Marinduque State University is set to undergo the 𝖨𝖲𝖮 𝟫𝟢𝟢𝟣 𝖲𝗍𝖺𝗇𝖽𝖺𝗋𝖽 𝖲𝗎𝗋𝗏𝖾𝗂𝗅𝗅𝖺𝗇𝖼𝖾 𝖠𝗎𝖽𝗂𝗍 from February 17 to 20, 2025. This announcement was made official through Office Memorandum No. 11, s. 2025, signed by University President Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta.

During the flag raising ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Harvey A. Dulay, Campus Director of the Torrijos Campus, emphasized the importance of collective efforts in achieving this milestone. “Our preparations for the ISO Audit reflect our dedication to maintaining quality assurance and continuous improvement. We encourage faculty, staff, and students to actively support this initiative, as it represents our shared responsibility in achieving institutional excellence,” Dulay said.

MarSU’s commitment to quality is evident in its ongoing efforts to meet global standards, and the upcoming audit is another step toward solidifying its reputation for academic and institutional excellence.

The celebration reached its pinnacle with the 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕, held from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM, bringing together the MarSU community for an evening of formal yet enjoyable activities. Sir Nicole P. Postrado once again led the attendance, ensuring the smooth participation of students, faculty, and staff.

Cyra Marie P. Paez, SSC Torrijos President, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the significance of unity and collaboration within the MarSU family. An intermission number by BSA 1C representatives added vibrance to the evening, setting the tone for the night's activities.

Dinner followed, offering an opportunity for guests, faculty, staff, student leaders, and selected students to share a meal, further strengthening the bonds within the MarSU community. The highlight of the evening was the awarding ceremony, recognizing outstanding contributions and achievements within the university.

The program concluded with closing remarks by Marilyn A. Mayores, Dean of the College of Agriculture, who acknowledged everyone’s efforts in making the event a success and encouraged continuous collaboration in the upcoming year. Furthermore, Ms. Fatima M. Ola served as the Master of Ceremony, ensuring the smooth progression of the evening.

This year-end celebration was a testament to the vibrant community spirit and dedication to excellence that defines Marinduque State University Torrijos Campus. As the university looks forward to 2025, the event served as a memorable conclusion to a productive year.

The Marinduque State University Torrijos Campus marked the close of 2024 with a vibrant 𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒓-𝑬𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 held at the Theory Hall from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The event began with a warm welcome as Sir Nicole P. Postrado, SSC Torrijos Secretary, efficiently handled the registration process, ensuring smooth participation of students and staff.

The program officially opened with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, followed by an inspiring prayer. 𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒗𝒆𝒚 𝑨. 𝑫𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒚, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒖𝒔 𝑫𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓, graced the event with his opening remarks, reflecting on the year’s remarkable achievements and extending his gratitude to the university’s dedicated community.

The session featured engaging intermission numbers from BSA 1B representatives, lively parlor games, and an exciting raffle draw that thrilled the audience. Students and officers actively participated in these activities, showcasing their talents and camaraderie.

The combination of entertainment and interactive games fostered a festive atmosphere, allowing attendees to unwind and celebrate the year’s accomplishments. 🌱

Marinduque State University (MarSU) - College of Agriculture is beaming with pride as it celebrates a remarkable achievement, with 𝟗 𝗇𝖾𝗐𝗅𝗒 𝗅𝗂𝖼𝖾𝗇𝗌𝖾𝖽 𝖺𝗀𝗋𝗂𝖼𝗎𝗅𝗍𝗎𝗋𝗂𝗌𝗍𝗌 triumphantly passing the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 Licensure Examination for Agriculturists (LEA). 🌾

With an impressive overall passing rate of 𝟖𝟏.𝟖𝟐%, the campus has once again proven its commitment to academic excellence, surpassing the national passing rate of 𝟓𝟎.𝟕𝟖%.

Among the successful passers, 𝟖 first-time takers achieved an impressive 𝟖𝟎% success rate, while the returning examinee demonstrated remarkable determination, achieving a perfect 𝟏𝟎𝟎% passing rate. This outstanding performance highlights the dedication of MarSU Torrijos students and faculty in fostering a culture of excellence and tenacity in agricultural education.

The achievement not only reflects the university's rigorous academic training but also underscores its pivotal role in shaping future leaders in the agricultural sector.
