Countering counterfeits

There is a lot of fake money out there getting circulated. It can get tricky to fall for it. They say that managers of banks tell their tellers not to study the FAKE money but to STUDY the REAL ones because if you know what’s authentic, you will be able to spot a counterfeit. To be a good teller you must know these things. Would you be able to tell the difference? One of the ways to catch a fake is to put it up against the LIGHT. That's why sometimes we see cashiers holding the bill up to check on it when we give them a big bill. It's the same way with countering false teachings. It doesn’t matter how good something looks or sounds. What matters is how it looks after we shine the light of Christ on it.

Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, `I am the Christ, ' and will deceive many. Matthew 24:4-5

If you hear a strange teaching for a couple of seconds you can already sense something is off when compared to The Bible. Our best protection against the darkness of error is the light of truth. When we study the truth in His Word correctly, it becomes easier to spot all the lies and counterfeits. We need to practice Biblical discernment so we can have judgment for knowing the difference between right and wrong, good and evil, truth and error, and identifying God's will and direction for us. To get so familiarized with what's true, that you can discern anything that's not. When The Bible becomes our standard of truth and we become immersed in it, we become more closer and grounded on God. Then we will not get easily scammed by the deceptions of this world. -PJ
