To encourage students in pursuing scientific explorations, contribute innovation and creativity, the Association of Science Educators (ASEd) in collaboration with science related programs from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS)โ Association of Green Advocates (AGA), and Biology Student Association (BIOSA)โ launched the Science Fest 2023 at NEMSU Audiovisual Center on Wednesday, September 27.
"Science holds key solution to a more sustainable and just development in harmony with our planet," Dr. Abundio C. Miralles, Campus Director, stated in his message. "In order to meet our goals, we need more scientists and researchers. Let us do more to support science education and encourage young men especially students to pursue scientific callings," he added, inspiring students to be an instrument for change. Moreover, Dr. Annie Y. Samarca, CTE Dean, gave her message, "We are here not just a professor of science, a student of science but a global citizen. A global citizen to make our place a better world to live." She also emphasized the role of the future mentors in teaching science in developing the students' critical thinking and skills.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jocelyn B. Panduyos, Director for Research, said, "Global science focuses on how we are using our resources. This will increase all areas of science with new ideas, skill sets, and learning opportunities." Her message centers on the event's theme, "Global Science for Global Well-being".
The science associations also initiated activities including poster making, slogan making, extemporaneous speaking, science wonder, quiz bowl, science race, science jingle, and sci-tech writing which were participated by all programs from the CTE, and the science programs from CAS namely AGA and BIOSA.
