In a groundbreaking turn of events, Dannalyn Labad has been chosen as the winning presidential candidate to take office after the term of outgoing SSG President Jobeneal Micutuan. Labad, representing the Unified Students Working and Aiming for Good Governance (USWAGG), triumphed over her formidable opponent, Jamby Pelarios, who hails from the vote-rich College of Arts and Sciences.
Labad's victory was a testament to her strong leadership and resonating message, as she secured a commanding lead with 2,322 votes, surpassing Pelarios of the Pro-Students Rights Party (PSRP) who garnered 1,484 votes.
USWAGG demonstrated their dominance in the election by clinching the majority of positions, including the second highest executive roles, the Vice President for Internal and Vice President for External, as well as the Secretary position. Allysa Genn Amindalan and Cliff Howard Salomon emerged victorious as the respective vice presidentiables, while Jeremy Kaye Dinoy claimed the secretarial position.
Notably, the legislative body known as the "Magic 12" comprised entirely of senatorial candidates from USWAGG, with Apple Grace Castillon emerging as the leading candidate with 2,083 votes.
USWAGG's success extended beyond the SSG's executive and legislative branches, as their candidates secured victories in the college gubernatorial races. Felix Yu from the College of Teacher Education, Ashley Correan Bolido from the College of Business and Management, and Jeric Talatayod from the College of Arts and Sciences emerged triumphant, the latter being the home college of the defeated president.
In a contrasting result, PSRP's ticket, led by Joven Charles Panganiban, secured positions in the College of Information Technology Education without any opposition.
Furthermore, the independent party known as INGENAIRES claimed victory in the college election for the engineering department, surpassing their sole opponent, LODI. Mary Love Diong of INGENAIRES emerged as the victor in the gubernatorial position, defeating Johanna Marie Boquiron of LODI with a margin of 39 votes, 127 to 88.
In an exclusive interview following the release of the final results, Labad expressed her profound gratitude for the resounding victory of her party. She stated, "Winning the election together with my USWAGG family is the most unexpected yet greatest blessing in my life. We started together, strived hard together, and now I am immensely grateful to the Lord for allowing us to succeed together."
Labad further emphasized that their true challenge lies ahead, as they must fulfill their duties and responsibilities while translating their campaign platforms into tangible realities.
Through their historic win, Dannalyn Labad and the USWAGG party have set a new precedent in student governance, poised to bring about positive change and transformation in their college community.
