“THE ETHICAL COUNSELOR / THERAPIST"
Ethical standards are designed to provide some guidelines for professional Counselors /psychotherapists to fulfill their profession properly and successfully.
But sometimes Counselors also need help or guidance from others because there are also times or moments that they experience what others are going through or if someone in need of counseling is closer to them, that is why one of the Psychologist views that in ethical considerations in counseling / Psychotherapy practice, A counselor/psychotherapist should avoid counseling Family, Friends, or people they know. After all, they will experience pre-judge ideas about them, personal bias, emotional attachment to the person, Family Connection, Preconceived ideas of their behavior, cultural history, and historical relationship with the person. Those things limit the counselor's ability to treat the person or let the person self-govern his / her treatment or response to it.
