“When I pray to God I feel safe when I feel His presence. I like talking to God when I feel sad or when I just like to talk to Him about my day.
I also talk to Him when I do something bad and I ask for His forgiveness.
When I read the Bible, I learn more about Him.
I also love the stories in the Bible because you can learn so much things from just one story.” —Keilah, 10 years old

When a child is able to figure out the science of connections that’s present in everything around them, learning becomes a beautiful discovery.

Following Keilah’s curiosity compass 🧭 we took our learning journey from the life of Helen Keller to the life of Louis Braille.
Our main spine for Louis Braille’s life was taken from The Good and Beautiful curriculum.

When people say “Classical Music” we immediately think of Beethoven or Mozart or Tchaikovsky.
But did you know that there was actually an equally great classical musician who lived during Mozart’s time that was of African descent?
His name was Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges.

Keilah asked about the tiny bumps in some elevators — I told her those were brail numbers for blind people.
Our conversation made her curious about people with disabilities which led her to ask if there were people who were both blind and deaf.
Having read her book when I was in elementary school, Helen Keller instantly came to mind.
So glad I found a gem of a living book that Keilah enjoyed reading and learning about Ms. Keller’s life.
Sharing Keilah’s favorite quote from the book:
