𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫'𝐬 𝐔𝐁 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬, 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 '𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐑𝐄 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲' 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 '𝐄𝐗𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲,' 𝐯𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 The UBSSG Commission on Elections held the Miting de Avance at the UB Founder's Lounge last April 15, 2024, to help the student body make decisions about who to support and vote for in the SSG Election for this year. The purpose of the event was to formally introduce each party's official candidates and allow a discussion of the election parties' platforms. This year, it's a battle between two parties - The Excellence Party and the Desire Party. Each party is putting forward their best candidates to win over the hearts and minds of the students. The Miting de Avance was conducted in two parts—presentation of Candidates and their platforms where each party was given some minutes, and the Question and Answer session where the official candidates for each position were given time to answer questions from opposing parties, The Varsitarian and some students spectators. The Miting de Avance started to heat up as each official candidate answered the solicited questions relevant to the platform they hold, transparency, connectivity issues, program implementation, among others. Will DESIRE prevail over EXCELLENCE? The student body will decide through an electronic voting system this April 18-19, 2024. Keep updated with the latest UBSSG Election Updates.
