Reinventing myself was my primary objective for this year, as I have lost touch of what truly mattered to me; making art that resonated with my creativity. As I worked with different projects, I found myself happy with my work once again, slowly regaining the skills I have lost in the past. With the year ending, I just love that I get to look back at the variety of works I have produced on my own and with the people I work with. Through the hardships I have learned quite a lot, and one that resonated with me the most was, “Go back to your roots, then you’ll find yourself and what makes you happy.” I will be entering 2025 with an optimistic but grounded belief that I can grow and surpass my limits once again.

2024 was challenging but rewarding! I tried digital art and explored apps while mix n' matching different art styles. Kudos and thanks to UP Lente for being a big part of my art journey, giving opportunities and that "push of encouragement" to actually bring ideas into art (guess, I really need that boost). This year has been a crazy ride for me as an artist. I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone more times than I can count (and more times than younger me would expect). From finally accepting commissions, sharing my personal art more often, and taking on more leadership roles within the organization, I can confidently say that I’ve definitely outdone myself this time! I owe my UP Lente family for helping me realize that I am capable of achieving greater things. When I couldn’t believe in myself, Lente was always there to reassure me. I couldn’t be more grateful.

Like last year, I hope to grow even more this coming 2025—both as a storyteller and a creative. I can’t wait to see what art I put out in the future!

My journey as an artist in 2024 has been full of growth and new experiences. One of the highlights was being a photographer for UP Tacloban College's 46th Commencement Exercise during my first year of residency in UP Lente, which gave me confidence in my skills. I also stepped out of my comfort zone by trying post-processing, something I wasn’t very confident in before. UP Lente played a big role in my improvement by pushing me to think creatively and helping me believe in my potential while guiding me along the way. In 2025, I look forward to learning more from my co-resis, gaining new experiences, and continuing to discover what I’m capable of.

2024 has been a rollercoaster! Balancing school, life, and art has been tough, but UP Lente helps me to become a better artist (frfr ngl), especially that I am from the baby batch (🍔). I am just literally starting to learn the basics, and because of the experience that I've been through this 2024 as an artist I can say that I am much more confident now to show off my skills and it's because of UP Lente. Thank you, UP Lente, for guiding me and helping me to learn more about multimedia, especially within the photography cluster, thanks mga lodicakes ko! 😘 The constructive feedback and collaborative projects have been invaluable to my growth. A lot of my art this year I think was for work or for commissions or fixing old art. Still, that’s not a bad thing. I’m kind of amazed that I’m still able to make such expressive things even if its not purely for my enjoyment. Largely thanks to Lente being my creative rock/support system. Hopefully though next year I can make more art for myself. I think 2024 was a year when I really branched out into other types of things. I tried photography, film directing, crocheting, and etc, although I can’t really call them art yet haha so maybe you’ll see them in my artvartist next year. Looking forward to more creative exploration in 2025!

Before joining Lente, I was never drawn to photography. But this year, I made the decision to join the photography cluster, a choice based on a newly-ignited passion for photography, born from watching my friends find beauty in the mundane and capturing it in photographs.

Admittedly, it was hard because I wanted to be good the moment I started, but I’ve come to embrace the learning process, especially the art of post-processing. It’s become one of my favorite aspects of photography and the highlight of my journey, tinkering with the photos until it turns into something that is uniquely me.

To be honest, most of my work this year was focused on org deliverables (lol), but that didn’t stop me from creating personal art whenever I had the time. Like last year, I’m still experimenting with different styles and have yet to discover my own unique style—I don’t think I’ve found it yet. However, two of my close friends in Lente seem to think otherwise, as they sometimes say, “This screams Ed.”

2024 has been a slow, but also eventful year for me. I’ve learned a lot as an artist, most especially when it comes to the editing and exploration side. One of the major things that UP Lente guided me this year is quite literally introducing me to the basics of using Adobe Lightroom and it opened more opportunities for me to expand my craft. Moreover, as a photographer, the guild encouraged me to go to more places, capturing unfamiliar beauty, most of which I still shot with my trusty phone. After all, gear isn’t always the key to being a great artist! That being said, I’m looking forward to 2025 with more opportunities to grab and better my capabilities as an artist! :D
