As mountaineers, this is our WHY — to have a multi-sensory experience with nature. To see magnificent views from the top, to feel the freshest air away from the city, to hear the sound of birds in their natural habitat, and to smell the raw earth. Thank God for the mountains!

Ending this year with a major hike. Eastern Visayas’ highest peak has finally been crossed off my chart! Behold, the Mt. Aminduen (1,332 masl) also known as Alto Peak.

From being detoured to a wrong trail down to meeting local kids whom we thought would guide us to the peak but didn’t and instead brought us to a new campsite, this trip is surely out of the ordinary. But the best and thrilling part was rappelling on a steep 80° trail! A decent preparatory hike for Mt. Apo, perhaps? 🧗🏻‍♂️
