Marcos to China: 'Let's make a deal'

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has expressed his intention to send back the US Typhon missile system to the US ONLY if China ceases harassing Filipino vessels and claiming territory in the West Philippine Sea. The Typhon missile system, developed by Lockheed Martin, has a range of 480 kilometers and can fire multi-purpose missiles up to thousands of kilometers, including Tomahawk cruise missiles. The US military has redeployed the launchers to an undisclosed location in Luzon. Philippine military officials said they plan to train on the system in February and expressed their intent to acquire Typhon launchers to strengthen their defense capabilities. China has opposed the presence of the missile system in the Philippines, but the Department of National Defense has refused Chinese demands to remove it. The deployment of the Typhon missile in the Philippines comes amid mounting tensions in the West Philippine Sea due to Manila and Beijing's overlapping claims.

V host Willie Revillame announced that his friend Randy Santiago will replace him as the host for his game show "Wil To Win." In the program yesterday, Willie asked his fans to support Randy because he will temporary leave the program for his senatorial bid. “Mawawala man ako ay itutuloy po natin ang programa para ho makapagbigay ng saya. Sana naman ho, e, huwag ninyong iiwan," he said. Willie then introduced Randy, saying Randy was the one who discovered him back in the days. "Ang taong napakabait, walang kaaway. Ang ganda ng pagkatao ng taong ito. Walang iba ho, ang hindi nagbabago, Mr. Randy Santiago!” he added. Willie will host the program until February 10.

Payumo later explained that Tumang sponsored her final walk gown and that she was humbled to learn that one of his masterpieces would be the farewell gown of Miss Universe 2018. No need for new law to combat childhood pregnancies—DOH

Health Secretary Ted Herbosa has expressed reservations about Senate Bill 1979, or the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Bill, and suggested that the rising cases of childhood pregnancies in the Philippines can be addressed by fully implementing existing laws like the Reproductive Health Law. Herbosa emphasized that the problem lies not in the lack of legislation but in the poor implementation of current laws, such as the Reproductive Health Law. He emphasized that addressing unplanned pregnancies and reducing maternal deaths among minors should be the government's focus. The Department of Health (DOH) chief highlighted that unplanned pregnancies among the youth often lead to complications due to their lack of regular check-ups. Herbosa suggested enforcing current laws, including those addressing statutory r**e and child protection, and working with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to ensure the enforcement of these laws. He emphasized the need for a multi-faceted approach to tackle childhood pregnancies, including abstinence as advocated by the Catholic Church and the use of modern contraceptive methods.
