Workers in government who have been in the service for at least 10 years and have acquired relevant knowledge and skills but do not possess the appropriate civil service eligibility are encouraged to apply for the Grant of Career Service Eligibility – Preference Rating (CSE-PR).

Under Civil Service Commission (CSC) Resolution No. 2301123 promulgated on 7 December 2023, a Preference Rating of a maximum of 10 points shall be added to the failed rating range (70.00 to 79.99) to achieve the passing rate of 80.00 for qualified applicants in Career Service Examinations (CSEs), thereby qualifying them for Career Service Professional or Subprofessional eligibility.

CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles acknowledged the prevalent circumstance where numerous government employees, driven by a genuine commitment to public service, find themselves lacking the requisite civil service eligibility.

The Department of Education Surigao City Division achieved a significant milestone by officially inaugurating its newly constructed Division Executive Guest House at the Division Office within C.V. Diez Memorial Elementary School.

Led by School Division Superintendent Marilou B. Dedumo, CESO V, the ceremony was attended by Governor Robert Lyndon S. Barbers, City Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II, and City Vice Mayor Alfonso S. Casurra.

This purposefully designed Executive Guest House, aimed at accommodating visitors to the DepEd Division Office, is a testament to the collaboration between the provincial administration, led by Governor Barbers, and the local government of Surigao, headed by Mayor Dumlao.

The inauguration of the Executive Guest House aligns with the shared commitment of the Provincial and City Governments to support educational excellence and provide efficient services to the people of Surigao.

And based on their records a balance of Php 4,601,424.96 is still to be refund which will be refunded to member-consumers owner this billing month of January 2024

NTC orders halt of SMNI operations anew for defying 30-day suspension

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 23) — The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has again ordered Swara Sug Media Corporation, also known as Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) to stop its operations after it defied an earlier suspension imposed by authorities for alleged violations of its franchise.

In a statement, the NTC said the order dated Jan. 18 states that despite SMNI’s receipt of the 30-day suspension order on Dec. 21, the agency “has received reports showing that Respondent did not strictly comply with the suspension aspect and was still operating in certain areas in Region IV by as late as 27 December 2023.”

The commission also pointed out that SMNI has yet to submit its response to the 30-day suspension order despite being given an extension until Jan. 15. Instead, the company filed a motion for a bill of particulars on Jan. 11, which the NTC denied on the 16th.

SMNI was told to cease and desist operating its radio and television stations pending hearing and final consideration of its administrative case with the NTC. It was also given 15 days to submit an explanation why it failed to comply with the December suspension order.

Last month, the NTC suspended the broadcast operations of SMNI for a month in response to a House resolution. This urged the commission to act on the company’s involvement in red-tagging and airing of false information that Speaker Martin Romualdez used ₱1.8 billion for his travels in 2023.

The Business Permit and Licensing Office of Surigao City successfully concluded its One-Stop Shop initiative for business licensing on January 20, 2024.

The program started on January 2, 2024, and concluded with a culminating event in partnership with the Surigao Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event included a raffle and highlighted the significance of the initiative.

Out of the 5,084 existing businesses, an impressive 69% renewed their licenses, and 451 new businesses registered.

A total of 3,505 businesses successfully renewed their licenses, contributing a total of P78,578,304.74, which surpassed the target of P75,000,000.

For businesses that did not participate in the initiative, the Business Permit and Licensing Office is still available to facilitate necessary transactions at the City Hall Main Building Lobby.

During the Flag Raising Ceremony on January 22, 2024, City Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II expressed his commitment to ensuring that the right amount of taxes is paid for the city. He also guaranteed the business community that the administration would strive to make their money worth it by delivering quality service, building top-notch infrastructure, and procuring high-quality equipment.

The Mayor emphasized that quality means ensuring the right quality at the right price. This year, the city aims to strategically increase its economy and enhance its services, and taxes are essential to achieving these goals.

Together, let us collaboratively work towards uplifting the economic landscape of our city. Your investment in Surigao is vital and greatly valued.
