August 8, 2025-The Santiago North Cluster of Schools Athletic Association (SNCAA) 2025 Meet has kicked off, and the atmosphere could not have been any better. On August 8, 2025, athletes, coaches, and school representatives filled the amphitheater of SNCS-ISC, indicating and recognizing the opening of this year's meet. The theme of this year's meet is "Fresh Vision, Friendly Competition," and from the beginning, it was clear that this year is going to be a great one.
The day started with the singing of the National Anthem by Ms. Marites Angon, a prayer of invocation by Ms. Marivic F. Manuel, and welcome remarks from our Cluster Head and Principal III, Mrs. Corazon A. Ferrer. In her welcome remarks, she encouraged the athletes to play, not only with heart, but also reminded them that while there are opponents whom they will struggle through competition, respect is paramount.
There was nothing more inspiring and emotional than the parade of delegates as the athletes from each school marched carrying the school pride for their sports. The students showed no hesitation in showing their excitement and enthusiasm as members of their respective schools united in camaraderie. Next, already setting the stage for greatness, guest speakers Dr. Leilanie P. Dominia and Dr. Rosalia B. Gutierrez delivered motivating messages to the athletes. They provided words that encouraged each participant to express not only a desire to win medals, but to foster friendships through the shared experiences, which builds character.
The ceremony was rife with significant symbolism. Mr. Edward Arjay Barreo, a finalist in Palarong Pambansa, lit the Friendship Urn, a glowing symbol of unity that will be ignited for the duration of the games. Ms. Kate Angel Marquez then led the Oath of Amateurism, a pledge to compete honestly and fairly.
As the banners of each school were raised side by side with pride, Mrs. Ferrer officially opened the 2025 SNCAA Meet, and the crowd erupted in a roar of cheers.
This meet is more than about who wins the gold. It is a celebration of sportsmanship, community, and a shared passion for the game. After all, as Heywood Broun said, "Sports do not build character. They reveal it."
