Bagong Taon ng bagong simula at bagong pag-asa sa ating lahat. Ating ipagdiwang ang pagtatapos ng taong 2022 dahil nalampasan natin ang mga pagsubok sa nagdaang taon at pasasalamat sa mga biyaya at paghahanda sa isang bagong kabanata ngayong 2023.

Nawa'y magkaisa tayo tungo sa tunay na mapayapa at makatarungang bansa. Higit pang pagmamalasakit at pagrespeto sa bawat isa.

Manigong Bagong Taon, mga kabsat na Santiagueño! Isang masagana at ligtas na Bagong Taon sa ating lahat.

Sa kanyang privilege speech noong Martes, ika-13 ng Disyembre, sinabi ni Sen. Idol Raffy Tulfo na magpapasa siya ng batas na mag-oobliga sa lahat ng presinto na maglagay ng CCTV sa kanilang mga kulungan at investigation room.

Ito ay upang matigil na ang madalas na nagaganap na mga pagmamaltrato at pagtorture ng mga pulis sa mga suspek na nakakulong o nakakustudiya sa kanilang police station.

Kadalasan sa mga suspek dito ay dinadala ng mga pulis sa isang kwarto para bugbugin o di kaya ay pinabubugbog sa kapwa preso para paaminin sa kasalanang ibinibintang sa kanila o di kaya ay dahil napagtitripan lang.

Dahil dito, kung minsan, nakakatanggap tayo ng mga balita mula sa mga pulis na ang isang suspek nila ay nagbigti o inatake raw sa puso.

At kapag may CCTV na at may nangyari pa rin sa isang suspek at diniklara nilang nasira ang kanilang CCTV sa oras ng insidente kakasuhan ang mga pulis na naging pabaya kasama na ang hepe ng istasyon.

“SANTIAGO, BAYAN NG PAG-IBIG:
INTER BARANGAY TOURIST SPOT COMPETITION”

1. Ang bawat barangay ay kalahok sa kumpetisyong ito;
2. Ang tema ng tourist spot ay SANTIAGO, BAYAN NG PAG-IBIG;
3. Ang kumpetisyong ito ay walang itinatalagang sukat, haba o laki ng isasaling tourist spot;
4. Ang mga barangay na mayroon ng tourist spot ay maari paring sumali o isali ngunit dapat nila itong ayusin at pagandahin katulad ng iba’t ibang pook pasyalan at eco-park sa barangay;
5. Ang isasaling tourist spot ay kinakailangang matibay at pangmatagalan, hindi tatanggapin ang mga entry na hindi matibay.

3. Larawan kung saan gagawin ang tourist spot (kahit may nasimulan na, ito ay kailangan pa ring kuhanan)
4. Pipiliin lamang ang top 20 na may pinakamamagandang entry at sila lang ang mag-uuwi ng gantimpala, at ito ay ang mga sumunod:

TOURISM POP QUIZ 3.0

ELIGIBILITY
• The Tourism Quiz Bee is open to all bonafide resident in any barangay in the City of Santiago.
• Two (2) representatives per barangay ages 15 to 30 years old.
• Each representative shall be accompanied by one official that will serve as the official coach.

SUBMISSION OF ENTRY
• Entry forms shall be submitted at the City Information, Culture and the Arts and Tourism Office, Santiago City Hall on or before September 14. 12NN with the following requirements: 1. CTC or Cedula, 2. Endorsement letter from Barangay Captain, 3. any valid ID, 4. and other documents or requirements that may be prescribed by the organizing committee. • There shall be 64 official entries that will be accepted. Each barangay shall have a maximum of 2 representative.
• Accepted participants shall attend the orientation on September 20, 2022, 2PM at Balay na Santiago, Calao West, Santiago City.

MECHANICS
• The Tourism Pop Quiz shall cover the tourism of the City of Santiago including the entire Philippines: tourist destinations, tourism laws, facts and trivias, history and culture, tourism programs and products and tourism festivals and events.
• The Tourism Quiz Bee shall be on September 24, 2022.
• There shall be Quiz Masters who shall determine the validity of answers of the participants.
• Contestants shall be provided writing materials. Each question shall be answered in written form within the prescribed time allocated for each question.
• There shall be 30 questions and will be categorized as follows:
I. Easy - 10 items with 1 point each for a total of 10 points.
II. Average - 10 items with 3 points each for a total of 30 points.
III. Difficult - 10 items with 5 points each for a total of 50 points.
• Contestants shall write their answers on the answer sheet provided. Wrong spelling is tantamount to a wrong answer.
• For the easy round, the questions shall be in multiple choice. Each contestant needs to write the correct letter of their answer on the answer sheet provided. Each easy question shall be answered in 5 seconds. Participants are only to write the letter of the answer (A, B, C, D).
• The questions for the average and difficult round shall be fill in the blanks, identification or multiple choice. Each question shall be answered in 10 seconds for average round and 15 seconds for difficult.
• The Quiz Masters shall read the question twice only. Answers shall be written only after the question has been read and after the Quiz Master says “GO”. A bell will be rung once to signify that contestants can now write their answer, and twice at the end of the time limit.
• Points shall be scored by correct answers to the question.
• In case of a tie, three (5) tie breaker questions shall be asked with each question worth one (1) point. However, if the tie still exists, a sudden death question shall be asked and the team that correctly answers first shall be consider as the winner.
• Any contestant caught in any act of cheating or any form of dishonesty shall be automatically be disqualified.
• Any noticeable audience coaching shall be tantamount to participant’s disqualification.
• Elimination round will end once the selection of the 16 who will compete live thru City Government of Santiago page.
• During semi-finals, participants shall compete head-to-head. Grand winner shall win till the end of the competition.

Tatlong panibagong kumpirmadong kaso ng COVID-19 ang muling naitala sa Lungsod ng Santiago sa katauhan nina CV 1499, CV 1506 at CV 1507.

CV 1499, isang 32 taong gulang na lalaki mula sa Barangay Victory Norte, Santiago City. Siya ay isang construction worker.

CV 1506, isang 29 taong gulang na lalaki mula Barangay Victory Norte, Santiago City.

CV 1507, isang 41 taong gulang na lalaki mula sa Barangay Plaridel, Santiago City.

Ang tatlong bagong kaso ay kapwa walang kasaysayan ng paglalakbay ngunit may pakikisalamuha kay CV 1312. Sila ay nakuhanan ng specimen sample noong ika-19 ng Setyembre 2020 bilang bahagi ng ginawang contact tracing ng City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) sa mga nakasalamuha ni CV 1312.

Ngayong araw ay dumating ang resulta ng kanilang test at ito ay SARS Cov2 positive.

Sa kasalukuyan, sila ay nasa pangangalaga ng ating LGU Quarantine Facility. Nagsasagawa naman ng contact tracing ang City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) para sa mga posibleng nakasalamuha ng bagong kaso.
