Calamba City, Philippines – November 17, 2024 – The Rotary Clubs of Calamba, Calamba City, Calamba City Premier, and Metro Calamba joined forces with local partners to host a transformative event entitled "Transforming Lives Through Mobility and Vision" at the community center in Barangay Anlog, Calamba City. This significant event showcased impactful projects aimed at improving the lives of local residents, particularly individuals with disabilities and those in need of vision care.
With the support of the Rotary Club of Cabutao Circle, the Physicians for Peace, led by Past District Governor Lyne Alano Abanilla, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the event centered on addressing urgent community needs through collaborative service.
A key highlight of the day was the distribution of many brand-new wheelchairs to individuals facing mobility challenges. Thanks to generous donations from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, numerous wheelchairs were provided to persons with disabilities (PWDs), granting them newfound freedom and independence. The emotional presentations resonated throughout the venue, with recipients expressing profound gratitude for the vital support.
In addition to the wheelchair distribution, the event featured a medical eye mission that offered free eye consultations and screenings for community members. Local optometrists and physicians volunteered their time to provide essential eye care services, identifying vision issues and prescribing corrective eyewear as needed. This pivotal event was organized by the Rotary clubs of Cabuyao, including Cabuyao Circle, Cabuyao Premiere, and Lucena South, as well as participation from 21 other Rotary clubs in District 3820, alongside various non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Mark Maloney joined local leaders and health officials to encourage community involvement and raise awareness of the importance of vaccinations. Lodlod Elementary School Benefited from Rotary Project Supported by International District Governors by 3820 and 3700
Lipa, Batangas October 18, 2024 - in a shining example of international solidarity and community service, Lodlod Elementary School in Lipa, Batangas, was the proud recipient of generous donations from Rotary Districts 3700 and 3820. The event, held on October 18, was spearheaded by District Governor Lee Chung Hwan from South Korea and District Governor Arnold Mendoza from the Philippines.
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Lipa West, under the leadership of President Aira Mendoza, the initiative aimed to provide essential school supplies, toys, and a newly constructed wash area for the students of Lodlod Elementary School. The collaboration between the Rotary Club of Pagsanjan, the Starkey Foundation, and many clubs of District 3820, also including the Rotary Clubs of Makati Poblacion and Makati Zobel of district 3830 along with Rotaract clubs and students from the University of Santo Tomas (UST), has proven to be a successful initiative in promoting hearing health. This joint effort focused on the donation and distribution of hearing aids and provided essential hearing diagnosis services to numerous beneficiaries at UST.
