Press freedom enables us to exercise our rights by expressing ourselves freely. Thus, it aids in raising awareness and enlightening everyone of the various social, moral, and economic issues within the society. Moreover, the power of the people to communicate their public concerns through the media serves as an eye-opener for us of the facts and truths that our society holds.

Yet, press freedom still faces threats. Multiple journalists of this generation are still being threatened, abused, harassed, and silenced. This is an evidence that among those who seat in the throne of power, there are those who are intimidated by the public’s ability to expose their immorality.

As Filipinos, we must collectively work in stimulating an integrity-driven society which only recognizes the truth and eliminates misleading information. When the press freedom is being trampled on, we must take a stand, dedicate our voice, and uphold the truth. Let us ensure that everyone will be able to practice their rights without the fear of being attacked.

Contestants, along with their coaches, brought home the bacon in the recently concluded Division Festival of Talents (DFOT), held on March 26, 2024.

The students who placed first are to represent the division of Laguna in the upcoming Regional Festival of Talents (RFOT).

With a lot of coughing going around Pedro Guevara, teachers and students are now alarmed by the recent report of Quezon City about the outbreak of Pertussis or the Whooping cough that could last for weeks or months.

It has been weeks since this coughing is going around the school and students from several grade levels are experiencing it with also the school having packed events that may have been the cause of the spreading.

Pertussis or Whooping Cough is a highly contagious respiratory infection that is transmitted through person-to-person contact with airborne droplets or exposure to infected clothes, utensils, and furniture among others.

Symptoms include a persistent cough that last for two or more weeks, mild fever, and a runny nose.

However, you can treat whooping cough early with antibiotics that may make the infection less serious to help prevent the bacteria that cause it to others and this can be prevented through regular vaccination .

It is advisable to prioritize self-care and take precautions early on, especially since the severity of the outbreak remains uncertain.

Pedro Guevara Memorial National High School (PGMNHS) commemorated the 145th birthday of Don Pedro Guevara at the school, February 23, 2024.

The school principal, Dr. Reynaldo D. Villaluz, together with the club presidents led the offering of the flowers at the statue of Pedro hailed as an ardent nationalist and brilliant defender of Philippine independence.
