𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 | 𝑻𝑴𝑨'𝒔 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑬𝒑𝒊𝒄 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏!

Forget the typical anniversary. Thoburn Memorial Academy threw a party that would make Santa himself jealous! On the 19th of December, 2024, the school celebrated its 79th year with the theme, “Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future: 79 Years of Excellence and Commitment". It was not just a celebration, but an experience that blended with reverence for the past with a spirited look towards the future.

The day began with a Thanksgiving Service that was held in the school ground that was filled with spiritual warmth. The school's choir performance was nothing short of divine, each note seemed to echo like voices of angels, lifting the spirits of all those who attended. What highlights the service was the powerful message of Rev. Atanacio G. Ilac, the school chaplain. His words inspired the crowd to embrace the spirit of gratitude and carry it with them into their lives.

But the real showstopper was the Christmas Celebration. The school brimmed with melodious Christmas carols and amazing dances. Students and members of Parent and Teachers Association (PTA) came together to present spectacular performances, showcasing the true spirit of Christmas.

The Christmas celebration was graced by the heartwarming message of Mrs. Jocelyn S. Alconcel. Her message encapsulated the true meaning of Christmas leaving the audience uplifted and inspired. Adding to the significance of the event was the recognition of the Golden Jubilarian Batch of 1974, whose legacy and contributions to the academy were honored during the celebration.

Even though the weather decided to play hard-to-get with some rain clouds and dampen festive mood, Thoburnians' Christmas spirit waved higher than ever. The school ground became alive with festive energy proving that nothing can stop the brilliance of the celebration.

As Thoburn Memorial Academy marches towards its 80th year, one thing is clear, this school is not just honoring the past, it's actively shaping the future. With its commitment, excellence, dedication, and its passion for nurturing minds, TMA is poised to continue its legacy of success for generations to come. #

It's still a win for the first timers!

The first ever English Radio Broadcasting team of Thoburn Memorial Academy being sent to the Congressional Schools Press Conference clinched 5th Place in Best Script besting other teams in the Congressional District 2.

The Radio Broadcasting and Script Writing Competition was held during the conduct of 2024 CSPC on December 12-13, 2024 in the Municipality of Piat.

Despite making it to the top 5 Best Script, the team failed to get a spot in the Overall Radio Production. The top 3 in the overall radio production will advance to the next level.

Four scribes of Thoburn Memorial Academy are set to represent the Congressional District 2 after claiming their tickets to the Division Schools Press Conference which will happen sometime in January 2025 in Lasam, Cagayan.

Unlike previous years, the announcement of winners was made through online via Facebook live.

The campus journos who have earned their spots in the top 10 are as follows:

These DSPC qualifiers are coached by Melanie Kristine Mingming-Habla, the school paper adviser.

In an interview right after the announcement, Habla expressed her delight for the awards achieved by the campus journos.

"I am super happy kasi we got 4 writers who made it to the top. Last year kasi, we got only one. This year, we prepared and yes, it flourished."

She promised that they will do their best to perform better in the coming higher level of competition. #

𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 | 𝑻𝑴𝑨 𝑨𝒕𝒉𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒔 𝑺𝒐𝒂𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝑽𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒂𝒕 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒛 𝑴𝒊𝒓𝒂’𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝟑-𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝑴𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒂𝒍 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕

The town of Sanchez Mira came alive with anticipation and excitement from November 27 to 29, 2024, as it hosted the much awaited 3-day Municipal Meet. Athletes from different schools across the municipality gathered to compete in a variety of sports, delivering moments of passion, determination, and exceptional skills. Among the fierce competitors are the athletes of Thoburn Memorial Academy who stood out, showcasing their talents that secured the spot in the upcoming Cagayan Provincial Athletic Association (CPAA) Meet.

𝑻𝑴𝑨’𝒔 𝑨𝒕𝒉𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝑻𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒔
In the athletic events, TMA left their mark on the field with stunning performances. Ryza Rasos of Grade 12 proved to be the powerhouse in the discus throw, her powerful throws earning her a well-deserved spot in the Provincial Meet. Elma Catli of Grade 11, dazzled in the triple long jump, combining her strength in every leap to secure the gold medal and the admiration of the crowd.

𝑲𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑯𝒊𝒈𝒉
On the mats, Yrahn Harley Constantino and Michael Cabuyadao, both Grade 11 students, displayed both precision and poise in the Poomsae category. Cabuyadao delivered a performance filled with power and control, while Constantino matched his teammate’s excellence with equally impressive skill and determination. Together, they demonstrated the mastery and discipline required to compete to the next level.

𝑺𝒎𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔
Badminton saw Althea Graciel Bacud of Grade 11, rise to the challenge with unmatched agility and focus. Her strategic smashes and quick footwork earned her a well-deserved spot in the CPAA.

𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒇𝒆𝒂𝒕
In some events, other Thoburnian Athletes were not able to clinch placements in their own sports. However, their hard work, determination, and passion will not go unnoticed as they are equally deserving of praises. Their loss is a testament of self-improvement and skill development for their future plays in sports. They have played wonderfully against their foes and are winners in their own rights.

What set TMA apart wasn’t just their certificate count but their passion and sportsmanship. These athletes didn’t just compete but they inspired. From the support they received, thunderous applause to encouraging cheers they embodied the spirit of Municipal meet.

As the dust settles in Sanchez Mira, TMA athletes gear up for their next challenge, the CPAA Meet. With their talent and determination, they are not just representing their school, but carrying the pride of their community. For TMA and Sanchez Mira, this is only the beginning of a journey filled with promise, passion, and the pursuit of excellence. #
