Please check below brief history of our town..

MUNICIPALITY OF URBIZTONDO is Located in the southwestern portion in the province of Pangasinan, the municipality of Urbiztondo is one of the towns established by the Spanish colonizers in the middle of the 19th century. It is bounded in the north by the City of San Carlos, in the east by the municipality of Basista, in the west by the town of Mangatarem and in the south by Bayambang.

The town was named after "Antonio de Urbiztondo y Villasis" who was well known Moro fighter and one time conqueror of the Moros of Jolo from 1850 to 1852 as Governor-General of the Philippines.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines launched the "KANTO KULTURA: BARAPTASAN 2024" that aims to promote Philippine literature and languages through verbal joust. Coined from two Filipino words, “balagtasan” and “rap”, BARAPTASAN is a national competition that promotes Balagtasan, a poetic joust attributed to literary master Francisco “Balagtas” Baltazar, but with a modern twist.

In line with this, may we respectfully encourage all writers, poets, and artists to join the said competition. We have attached the competition guidelines for your reference.
