Clause is a group of words that contains a subject and a predicate (verb).
Clauses are essential building blocks of sentences.
A sentence can contain one or more clauses, and the combination of these clauses helps convey more complex ideas.
Independent Clause can stand alone as a complete sentence because it expresses a complete thought.
Examples:
She enjoys reading.
We decided to go for a walk.
Dependent Clause cannot stand alone as a complete sentence because it does not express a complete thought. It often begins with subordinating conjunctions like because, although, if, or when.
Example:
Although she enjoys reading, she doesn’t have much time.
