𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: The College of Education Student Body Organization (CE-SBO), in collaboration with other college student organizations, actively participated in the Campus Laro ng Lahi held on January 15 at the Mid La Union Campus Oval.

The event showcased a variety of exciting traditional Filipino games, including Patintero, Tumbang Preso, Chinese Garter, Harina Relay, Baso Relay, Saluhin Mo ang Itlog Ko, Pitik Calamansi, Isubo Mo ang Saging Ko, and Kainin Mo ang Hotdog Ko.

The games brought energy, fun, and a sense of camaraderie among students from various colleges.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: The students of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU-MLUC) proudly showcased their lively and vibrant booth during the 44th DMMMSU Foundation Anniversary.

Embracing the sunny weather, the students demonstrated resilience, creativity, and teamwork, transforming their booth into a hub of camaraderie and interactive displays. Visitors enthusiastically explored the exhibits, engaging with booth operators and immersing themselves in the excitement of the celebration. The photos captured joyful moments of students and attendees, reflecting the shared enjoyment and energy that defined the event.

Part 2 of the booth activity further emphasized the importance of student involvement in fostering pride and unity within the campus community. As the celebration continues, the students’ enthusiasm and creativity remain at the heart of the festivities, ensuring that the foundation anniversary is both memorable and meaningful for all participants.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: Students of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU-MLUC) gathered for a lively and colorful booth event, showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of various student organizations. Each organization set up uniquely themed booths filled with engaging games, interactive activities, and captivating displays, creating a vibrant atmosphere across the campus.

The event served as a platform for organizations to introduce themselves to the campus community, foster camaraderie among students, and encourage social interaction. Each booth reflected the identity and mission of its respective organization, offering participants an enjoyable experience while learning more about the diverse groups on campus.

With themes ranging from entertainment and education to advocacy and culture, students had the opportunity to explore, connect, and immerse themselves in the dynamic spirit of the university. The event not only highlighted the creativity and teamwork of the student body but also strengthened the sense of community at DMMMSU-MLUC.

Jasnica Custodio of the College of Education secured third place in the MLUC Spelling Bee held on January 14 at the MLUC Library Audio-Visual Room. The College of Education quiz team, composed of Nerriah Trish Getuiza, Joana Mae N. Bocaya, and Thea Noreen Soriano Bandiala, earned fourth place in the campus-wide quiz bee.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: The College of Education (CE) secured victory in the campus-wide debate competition held on January 14 at the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Audio-Visual Room.

CE triumphed over the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) after three rounds of competition. The winning team, composed of Gielex Castillo, Rhenier Soriano, and Jay-Jay Daquioag, also earned the Best Speaker award.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University's College of Education Celebrates 44th Founding Anniversary

The College of Education at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) actively participated in the university's 44th Founding Anniversary. Faculty, students, and staff attended a Catholic Mass at the covered court, led by Rev. Fr. Reynaldo Jimenez, SVD. Simultaneously, an ecumenical service was held at the College of Education Multi-Purpose Hall, officiated by Ptr. Junel Forges, Ptr. Elma P. Gabriel, Ptr. Marivel A. Cariño, and Ptr. Romel G. Camba.

The College also marked the occasion by joining the inaugural flag ceremony at the MLUC Oval. The celebrations concluded with a field demonstration featuring dance performances by CE PATHFIT first- and second-year students.

The resounding success of the College of Education in the 2024 September Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) serves as a testament to the power of determination, collaboration, and unwavering support. 𝗔 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗵 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
The LET passers of 2024 have proven their mettle, demonstrating exceptional proficiency and commitment to the teaching profession. Their success echoes months of rigorous preparation, marked by sleepless nights, intensive reviews, and a steadfast belief in their capabilities. Beyond mastering theoretical knowledge, these future educators showcased the values of resilience, discipline, and passion for learning—qualities nurtured within the College of Education.

The College of Education left no stone unturned in ensuring that its LET takers were equipped with the necessary tools and confidence. From comprehensive review programs and mock examinations to personalized mentoring sessions, the faculty went above and beyond to reinforce both knowledge and morale. The College' Quality Assurance and targeted Performance Enhancement initiatives further ensured a robust support system for the takers, transforming challenges into opportunities for growth. Each student was given the chance to excel, anchored on the institution's commitment to producing competent and globally competitive teachers.

𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗲: 𝗢𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀
The community’s involvement extended beyond the school and families. Alumni, local government units, and private organizations also contributed to this remarkable achievement. Inspirational talks from successful LET passers, financial assistance, and study resources provided by external groups further fueled the determination of the examinees. The collaborative spirit of all these stakeholders fortified the culture of success that the College of Education embodies.

In this present era, the significant experiences of individuals from the past play a vital role in shaping our nation. Let us all appreciate and honor one of the Philippines' greatest national heroes, Dr. José Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda, widely known as Dr. José Rizal.

How much do we really know about Dr. José Rizal? Is it through his famous literary works, such as Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo? Or perhaps through the tragic story of his martyrdom in our history?

Whatever you may know about Dr. José Rizal, let us never forget how he selflessly sacrificed his life so that we, Filipinos, could attain the freedom and sovereignty we cherish today.

𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗥𝗬 | 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗠𝗔𝗦 𝗚𝗛𝗢𝗦𝗧

The ghost of last year's Christmas still lingers in every corner of this room. It haunts me and makes me realize how my smile fades every Christmas because it isn’t the Christmas it used to be.

While their Christmas is filled with green and red, mine is colored with blues. Maybe I was expecting this year's Christmas to be better, but it worsened. Alas! It feels chillier and lonelier. Holiday tables once filled with laughter when I was eleven are now filled with deafening silence.

The food is good, but why does it taste bitter as I try to reminisce about those golden memories of a real Merry Christmas?

But what truly is the essence of Christmas?

Is it the gifts that make my lips form a temporary smile? Perhaps the lively carolers singing outside our home? Or maybe the food paired with party songs?

The real essence is more than those presents—it's about reliving the moment instead of staying stuck and letting the blues drown you.

It’s about your presence—being fully alive in the moment during Christmas Eve. The deep talks and intimate hugs overpower the laughter I tried so hard to reminisce and recreate. Why recreate when you can create a more meaningful Christmas?

You are your own present, kid. Thus, you are the real essence of Christmas.

Be the star that twinkles and gives light to others. Stay in the warmth of your light, and do not let the cold embrace of Christmas drain the light and warmth you carry. To live in light and warmth is to let go of the ghost of last year's Christmas.

The love we give, the peace we cultivate, and the hope we inspire in others are just as meaningful as the presents we receive. As we celebrate this Christmas season, let us hold onto its essence: giving, sharing, and loving. May kindness guide our actions, and may time spent with loved ones become cherished memories.

He was the paragon of her life,
The hero who never wore a cape.
She lived for him,
Chased his dreams to make him happy—
Giving him everything
Until there was nothing—because she loved him.

He was her end state of existence,
The man she'd always looked up to.
She loved him to the bones, broke her heart to fix his—draining her cup just to fill his bottle—
Because she loved him.

One night, he came home. Drunk.
Senseless.
Unthinking.
He went to her,
Took the sun out of her eyes,
Stripped her of her dreams and future hopes,
And planted the seed of terror in her mind.
Then he blamed her.
Told her it was her fault.
And she believed him.
Because she loved him.

But this is not love.

Love is not supposed to be
Abusive,
Toxic,
Manipulative,
And full of gaslighting.

Love is not supposed to be the reason why
A girl's dreams are killed
By the first man she's ever loved.

Love should never be used as a license
For the father to destroy his daughter
Just because she loved him.

Women and children have rights.
And this includes
The right to be loved.
Justly.
Without violence,
Abuse,
And manipulation.

May no daughter or son
Ever resent their childhood
Due to the shadows of the past.

May all women
Who've always been poets
Be a poem this time.

May no woman
Ever give herself up
For a man unworthy of her, just because she loved him.

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦: Mid La Union Campus (MLUC) has produced 177 new teachers in the September 2024 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), as announced by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Friday, December 13.

At the elementary level, 55 out of the 73 examinees from the campus, or 75.34%, passed the exam. Meanwhile, 122 out of 177 examinees, or 68.93%, passed for the secondary level.

MLUC's passing rates are higher than the national average of 45.51% for the elementary level and 56.88% for the secondary level.
