THE DAVAO City Coastal Road is now 95.18% completed, with only 3.82 kilometers left from the original 17.78-kilometer stretch that aims to unclog major highways from the south going downtown up to Agdao District.

Dean Ortiz, the Department of Public Works and Highways XI spokesperson, said P24.55 billion out of the total P33.77 billion was already downloaded for the project. So, they are only waiting for the P9.22 billion from the program cost to finish the coastal road.

“Sa karon, we are planning to open the first segment of the Davao City Coastal Road from Bago Aplaya to Tulip Drive (As of now, we are planning to open the first segment of the Davao City Coastal Road from Bago Aplaya to Tulip Drive),” Ortiz said.

The segment will be opened to motorists by next month.

But they also have to finish the approaches and railings of the Talomo Aplaya Bridge connecting Barangay Talomo to Matina Aplaya before opening the alternate route to vehicles.

“So, it will only be a matter of time before we can already experience the convenience of the said road,” Ortiz expressed.

The project began construction in 2017, stretching from Bago Aplaya in the south to R. Castillo, Agdao District to the north. The project hurdled delays due to the pandemic and right-of-way issues.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | The "𝙆𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙙𝙮𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙠" groundbreaking ceremony was successfully held earlier today at Mercedes Benz St., Davao Executive Homes, Matina Crossing, Davao City. The event was attended by Councilor Temujin 'Tek' Ocampo, Barangay Captain Joel Santes, Ar. Jim Palma of UAP-Kadayawan Dabaw Chapter, Purok Officials, Davao Design Society (DDS), Interfacing Development Interventions for Sustainability (IDIS), guests, and residents of the area.

The ceremony marked the official start of construction for Kasadya Park, which aims to provide a recreational space for the community while promoting environmental sustainability. Native flowering tree seedlings such as "Malabulak" were planted during the ceremony. For the residents, creating a recreational and environmentally friendly park is a dream come true.

The groundbreaking ceremony marks the first step towards enhancing the community's overall well-being, presenting an opportunity for physical activity, social interaction, and a deep appreciation for the environment.
