From engineer to doctor? That is one great story.

The Alpha Phi Beta Fraternity proudly congratulates Dr. 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐃. 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐳 𝐀Φ𝐁 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟖𝐃 for passing the October 2022 Physicians Licensure Examination (PLE).

Brod Gerwin finished the dual degree of Doctor of Medicine and Master in Business Administration (MD-MBA) at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health this year.

In 2017, Brod Gerwin graduated with an Integrated Masters in Bioengineering at the Universidade do Porto in Portugal after receiving the eminent Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.

Exhibiting a well-rounded academic background, he pursued a different field of specialty in his undergraduate degree. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of the Philippines in 2015 and eventually placed 4th in the 2016 Metallurgical Engineering Licensure Exam.

After completing his undergraduate degree, he acted as an instructor at the Department of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the University of the Philippines. He developed an interest in the medical field after doing volunteer work for Think Pacific.

The fraternity is one with Brod Gerwin as he continues to live up to the Alphan tradition of excellence by proving his worth to apply his knowledge and wisdom in the field of medicine as a budding healthcare professional whose service to the Filipino people is crucial amid the ongoing pandemic situation. His unrelenting dedication and hard work have borne fruit even as he stayed true to the University's motto and gave honor to the fraternity's name.

May he always be guided by wisdom in his pursuit of excellence as an Alphan leader in the medical profession. We wish him success in all of his endeavors.

Congratulations, Brod!

He’s an Alphan, through and through.

Halloween is almost reaching its end but I guess it is time to share what decorations I have.

This is just a simple exhibit of the Wizarding World memorabilia for this year’s Halloween. Rather than have the bloody and eerie displays, I chose the Wizarding World because it has the better version of scary but it is more magical. I became a die-hard fan of the franchise twenty years ago when the Philosopher’s Stone was released on DVD and I got a copy of it and that was when I was eager to see Chamber of Secrets.

Next Halloween, team MultiJames95 will add autographed photos of the Golden Trio and other stars to the display along with action figures of the trio. In addition, there will is a possibility of portraits of dark lords Gellert Grindelwald and Tom Marvolo Riddle aka Lord Voldemort along with their real-life counterparts which are Adolf Hi**er, Benito Mussolini, and Joseph Stalin, all of which have eyes that follow the viewer wherever they go, similar to the pre-2006 Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland versions of The Haunted Mansion.

What are your decorations for Halloween? Post them in the comments.

NOTE: those portraits of the real Voldemort and Grindelwald which are Hi**er, Mussolini, and Stalin are not meant to promote racism and hate but rather to teach history. We cannot deny that the Wizarding World franchise and its sub series Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts have historical allusions and parallels. We can use the franchise as a tool to teach history and know more about ourselves. As what George Santayana stated “Doomed to repeat history are the people who fail to learn from it and its lessons”.

The first time I set foot in Manila Domestic Passenger Terminal (Terminal 4), the oldest terminal of Nichols International Airport was April 1996 when I was a baby-infant and the last time was January 1998, after my 1998 Christmas holiday in Philippines when my family and I were returning to Oman. That was when Philippine Airlines’ domestic flights departed and arrived at this historic place, which was built between 1947 to 1948 and opened following the closure of Nielson Field, the runways of which are as of the present, Ayala Avenue and Paseo de Roxas.

Now it is 24 years since I last walked these halls, that I am finally back. A pleasant travel with Philippines airasia has allowed me to walk the terminal I used to depart and arrive domestically. Following my 1998 trip home to Oman, I never used Terminal 4 again for on November that same year, we flew to the USA for an early Christmas break that lasted until December 15. As for our 1999 Christmas trip to the Philippines, we began using Centennial Terminal (Terminal 2) as Philippine Airlines relocated its domestic and international operations there.

PS. to avoid politicization of NAIA, I decided to call it as Nichols International Airport, with no disrespect intended. The NAIA complex occupies what was once the US base Nichols Field. However, with respect to Ninoy Aquino, I would rather call Terminal 1 as “Ninoy Aquino Terminal” as we cannot deny that the edifice is a mute witness to Ninoy’s assassination on August 21, 1983, of which its perpetrator and mastermind as well as motive remain a mystery.

There’s no Hogwarts without you Hagrid.

We mourn the loss of one of the best actors of the century who played the gentle giant gamekeeper and care of magical creatures professor Rubeus Hagrid, Anthony Robert “Robbie Coltrane” McMillan. He was known to be vocal of his health and had also been battling osteoarthritis. Requiescat In Pace Hagrid.

‘THIS IS DISHEARTENING TO SEE’

DLSU Gender Equality and Empowerment Commissioner Moira Pulumbarit on Thursday urged the Lasallian community to be more sensitive and socially aware amid the controversial cross-dressing performance during the pep rally.

Members of the DLSU men’s basketball team performed a TikTok-inspired dance number while wearing dresses, which prompted many to express their discomfort on Wednesday. The performance has been a longstanding tradition among DLSU athletes for their new members. https://bit.ly/3y2KqKI | via PhilSTAR Life

Today, it was alarming and concerning that rabids and radicals take force again in a show of mob mentality when the Philippine branch of Singaporean shopping site Shopee chose Celestine “Toni” Gonzaga as an endorser.

Too much politics and politicization will not work. Too much cancel culture will not fix this. Such a ridiculous idea to cancel just because of one person . You want to cancel Toni, then cancel these brands:

1. Delimundo
3. Colgate
5. Red Ribbon
7. PLDT FIBR
8. Lactum 3+
9. Rhea Pharmaceutical

Know what, we don’t care who is the endorser nor her political beliefs. We are not neutrals but we stand by the critical points and remain critical to all perspectives. We’re not pro or whatnot cos we didn’t vote for any of the two but the continuous scrutinazation of pro-red by pro-pink doesn't make sense anymore. Your bashing and cancel culture does not affect the endorser. However, the ones who are truly affected by your cancel culture and boycotts are THE REGULAR WORKERS OF THOSE COMPANIES WHO EARN MINIMUM FOR THEIR FAMILIES. Bankruptcy can cause lay offs and these workers would no longer be able to provide for their families. The layoffs are decided by their Main Headquarters of Singapore, the Philippine Branch will just follow the instructions, not related to this so called "issue".

It will not be us who will be affected but it will be them the workers. Even reasonable kakampinks who have shops and businesses there will also be affected.

Remember when Toni interviewed BBM? The bashing and cancel culture after that episode was released didn’t do well and they only increased BBM’s popularity and that was one factor that allowed his win to the presidency. It was toxics who did that too.

We at MultiJames95 will not close our Shopee and Lazada accounts and stores. We will continue to operate as usual to cater to the public. We will not cancel any brand, restaurant, online platform, & institution. We will not take politics here because it is not relevant at all and all we want is equal and balanced opportunities for all.

is just for idiots & losers who can't accept defeat. Your candidate lost not because of he/her himself/herself but it was you yourselves, radical loyalists who love to cancel people for voicing out their preference.
It was you rabid camps who caused the loss. It was you TOXIC campaigners who did the same.

I mean, when will we be logical and reasonable beings? When will we let go of it and think more of the people who will be affected by the layoffs?

Legendary veteran actor James Earl Jones has officially retired as the voice of Star Wars’ Darth Vader, a role he became well known alongside the late David Prowse, the character’s physical actor, since the series/franchise began in 1977. He has signed over the voice rights to Lucasfilm, its parent Walt Disney Company, and Respeecher. Thank you James Earl Jones and have a happy retirement.

True friendship never dies.

Being born and raised in Oman, and having lived there for a long time, here are some of my favorite photos of Her Majesty with Oman’s beloved rulers, the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said and the current monarch Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.

Saddened to hear of the recent death of the UK and Commonwealth realm leader Queen Elizabeth II, the second-longest reigning monarch in history, at her Balmoral residence at the age of 96.

Ascending to the throne in 1952 at the age of 25, the beloved British and Commonwealth monarch ruled longer than any of her predecessors, inheriting a United Kingdom still rising from the ashes of the second world war.

Rest In Peace Your Majesty.

September 8: The Nativity of the Virgin Mary

Every September 8 annually, not only we honor the Virgin Mary’s Nativity by attending services and having a prayer but we also have cats come inside our house as a way to make her happy. It has been said that the Virgin Mary used to care for cats and had them as pets even before Christ was born and continued to do so after Jesus was born, the Holy family’s flight to Egypt to escape Herod, to their return to Nazareth, when Jesus grew up, the time they found Him in the Temple, and throughout Christ’s mission until His death and resurrection.
