𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: Celebrating achievement and excellence, the College of Arts and Sciences students received their medals and certificates during the PASIDUNGOG 2024: The College of Arts & Sciences Recognition Program at Roblee Hall, June 28.

The ceremony honored not only academic prowess of the students but also their success in leadership, community service, socio-cultural events, and various extracurricular activities, showcasing the multifaceted talents of the CASimanwa.

A mass pinning ceremony for the graduating class was also conducted, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey and celebrating their readiness to take on future challenges.

Oh, what a year it has been! Kakafui 🤌🏼 😩

The late-night study sessions fueled by steaming cups of coffee that warmed our weary hands, the last-minute scramble to submit projects that pushed our limits, the complicated juggle to balance leisure from org works and academics—each hurdle we faced served as a building block for growth. These challenges honed our skills, strengthened our bonds, and prepared us for the triumphs ahead.

From the classrooms, to the campus grounds and beyond, the spirit of "Basta CAS, Waswas!" resonates through our dedication and hard work. Our commitment to excellence and unwavering pursuit of knowledge sets us apart as leaders of tomorrow. Us, the CASimanwas had always been living up to our name as the home of the champions.

After five years of hiatus, the College of Arts and Sciences Ball is making a grand return -- to the pastel-splattered gardens of Giverny 🌸🌺.

Amidst the blossoms of the irises, the roses, and the nasturtiums, we flutter in our Soiree Wisteria and grace the rendezvous at Monet's Giverny Garden 🥀🌼.

CASimanwas, bloom with us on June 20 at the Island's Hotel, Pueblo De Panay, Roxas City, and be enamored with the beauty and art of life as hued petals dance in the atmosphere. ☀💐🌹

𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐒𝐀𝐘 𝐌𝐀𝐇𝐔𝐒𝐀𝐘 ⚖️

Filamer Christian University's delegates from the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (AB PolSci) program brought home four awards from the San Agustin Model Congress (SAMC) 2024 held at the University of San Agustin (USA), Iloilo, May 3-5.

Third-year PolSci student Missy Dimson was awarded as the Best Speaker of the Labor and Employment Committee, while her fellow junior, Ma. Patricia Ochon, was recognized as the Best Speaker for Good Government and Public Accountability Committee.

Meanwhile, sophomore students Mia Factolerin and Rollyn Angelie Oso joined the winning delegation, garnering the Best Delegate Award and Best Debater for the Good Government and Accountability Committee, respectively.

The three-day model congress is aimed at enhancing youth participation in creating effective and working policies to address different social and political problems of the nation.

The Borres Youth Leadership Institute Inc. brought together some of the sharpest minds from the cities of Roxas and Iloilo for the BYLI Pagbina-isay 2024: An Invitational Debate Competition, with the elimination rounds commencing at SM City Roxas, April 21.

The opening match featured a battle between Filamer Christian University (FCU) and Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion (CPC); while the Kasamahan Party of the Western Institute of Technology faced off against the College of St. John-Roxas (CSJR) in the second match.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | Herald EIC qualifies for AYLC online interviews

The Herald Editor-in-Chief, Hanna Egos, successfully navigated the initial screening for this year's Ayala Young Leaders Congress (AYLC) as she joins a pool of exceptional applicants who will proceed to the online panel interviews scheduled for April 16th to 18th.

Egos stands out as the lone qualifier for the AYLC panel interviews from Filamer Christian University (FCU).

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by significant impairment in social communication skills and restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interest, or activities.

People with ASD all experience difficulties in language, socialization, and cognition. Autistic individuals do not easily learn social rules when communicating with others. For example, they may not listen to others, talk too loudly, or interrupt, which can lead people who have little awareness of ASD to perceive them differently. This stigma and discrimination make it even harder for autistic individuals to socialize. Although there is no cure or completely effective treatment, early intervention programs for young children with ASD are crucial. These programs focus on enhancing their communication and daily living skills while reducing problem behaviors such as tantrums and self-injury.

Despite increased awareness in recent years worldwide, there remains a pressing need to combat stigma and promote acceptance, especially here in the Philippines, where understanding and acceptance of autism are not widely discussed. World Autism Awareness Day serves as an opportunity to educate, advocate for support services, and celebrate the unique talents and contributions of individuals on the autism spectrum. Through empathy, education, and inclusion, society can create a more supportive environment where individuals with autism can thrive.
