LOOK: The Department of Migrant Workers says 16 #OFWs from Lebanon arrived at the NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay City on Wednesday (Aug. 28, 2024) via Emirates EK 332. The OFWs availed of the government’s repatriation program amid escalating tensions in the Middle Eastern country.
Each OFW received a total of PHP120,000 financial support from the DMW AKSYON Fund, OWWA Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the Department of Social Welfare and Development - DSWD, and other forms of government support.

WATCH: Department of National Defense - Philippines Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. confirms on Wednesday (Aug. 28, 2024) that there is an augmentation of Armed Forces of the Philippines units to the Police Regional Office-Davao Region. He said that as a deputized agency of the Philippine National Police, the military will cooperate with all government agencies in serving processes of the law. He also clarified that arresting fugitive Apollo Quiboloy is purely a law enforcement matter.

Presidential Assistance to Fisherfolk and Families Affected by the Oil Spill in Cavite General Trias, Cavite August 28, 2024
As the Administration remains relentless in helping communities affected by recent incidents of oil spill, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. pays a visit in the Province of Cavite to personally extend assistance to fisherfolk and their families whose livelihood have been put on halt.
In a program at General Trias on 28 August 2024, the President distributes cash aid amounting to PhP5,000 to select beneficiaries from the Cities of Bacoor and Cavite, and the Municipalities of Kawit, Noveleta, Rosario, Tanza, Naic, Maragondon and Ternate. He also turns over a cheque amounting to PhP161.5 million to the Provincial Government of Cavite.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) is continuously monitoring the situation in fishing areas affected by the oil spill caused by the capsizing and sinking of motor tanker (MTKR) Terranova near the coast of Lamao Point in Limay, Bataan on 25 July 2024. In the days that followed, another two (2) troubled vessels have been reported off the waters of Bataan, namely the MTKR Jason Bradley and motor vessel (MV) Mirola 1.
The Agency has already published in its previous bulletin that fish and other seafood products in Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Batangas and Metro Manila are declared safe for human consumption.
The BFAR, alongside various national government agencies (NGAs) and partners, continues to carry out measures to assess potentially affected fishing areas surrounding the Manila Bay, as well as deliver support to affected communities. Among these NGAs are the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and Department of Health (DOH).

WATCH: Sheriff Teresita Ceballos of the Davao City Regional Trial Court reads the temporary protection order granted by Branch 15 on Tuesday (Aug. 27, 2024) to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
According to the order, the Philippine National Police must cease and desist from any act or omission that threatens the life, liberty or security, as well as the properties of petitioners; and remove all forms of barricades, barriers and blockades that bar access to and from the subject compound that hinders petitioners' rights.
KOJC counsel Israelito Torreon said the order has no time frame.
