Calling it a “blatant attack on sovereignty,” the group criticized the bill for benefiting foreign corporations while pushing Filipinos deeper into poverty.

“This is not just about leasing land—it’s about selling out our country,” said Irma Espinas-Espinosa, Bayan Muna Panay Coordinator. The decision to cut PhilHealth’s government subsidy to zero, as approved by the Bicameral Conference Committee on the national budget, has drawn criticism from health advocates and the paying public.

The government's unilateral decision to redirect the provisioned health budget to “other departments” is not only misguided, but also violates its constitutional duty.
