Where To Next

Where To Next We tell stories and create products that aim to inspire you to go on meaningful adventures. https://linktr.ee/wheretonextph

We created Where To Next because we wanted a space where we can be creative on our own terms. Weekends became opportunities to bring people to the outdoors and witness them fall in love with it. By simply telling stories, we could inspire others to follow their curiosities, to make them feel less alone, and more understood. Travel for us is no longer the desired end. It is just a means to connect and change people through our art.

The Rain

The rain makes me think of the future. Like a quiet alarm, without a sound, it brings me back to my desk—a Tanguile desk I started making for my sister back when she needed it. By the time I finished, she didn’t need it anymore. The rain had kept me from finishing it sooner.

Now, the desk sits in the room I moved back into, while I help put my sister through her final year of college. The rain still makes me think of the future. “What kind of world will she live in?” I wonder. Will she find a job she loves? Will she be able to live comfortably? Will she be able to buy a house? Thankfully, we still live in the house our dad worked hard for—a parting gift before he passed.

The rain makes me think of the future. How long until the next storm arrives? How long before I can save enough to give our slowly decaying home its long-overdue repairs? How long before I need to start thinking about paying for something else? In some ways, the future seems distant, yet most of the time—overwhelming.

Still, I wonder about the future. What will it feel like to have the whole house fixed? Back to its former glory. I wonder when the future might feel as good as the past, a time that used to be much simpler.

Tonight, in the present, that same rain drips on that same desk. Two leaks, and a few more around house, have drenched my favorite notebook, along with a few other things. But that’s okay. We’ve let go of more difficult things, and repairs will begin soon.

Going on this mission was the farthest I’ve been away from my 2-year-old daughter, so my attention was drawn to the mothers and children of the community.

Seeing all the women here made me think about their hygiene routines during menstruation and pregnancy. What are home births like without access to clean water? How do they change their babies’ diapers, and how do breastfeeding mothers stay hydrated?

These questions highlight how important it is for communities like this to have clean water access. It’s a reminder of the daily challenges faced by those who lack this basic necessity.

Thank you for implementing clean water solutions in remote communities, and thank you to Hike Society for making this trip possible. 🥾💧✨

Some chapters need to end to make space for new stories to begin.

Our planner project started with two friends, a photocopying machine, and a handful of people who believed in a dream. We still pinch ourselves when we remember how far we’ve come since that year and how those connections remain with us today, a decade later.

It’s true when they say you know when you’re onto something; you can feel it in your body as your heart starts beating fast, your mind is restless, and you can’t help but be excited. This was how we felt every time a new planner arrived at our doorstep. And at the same time, you will also feel it in your gut when it’s time to move on. When the grind feels heavier, you start to wonder what else is out there.

Instead of resisting change, we choose to embrace it. Thank you to everyone who believed in the dream, who brought our planners to places we’ve never been, and who chose to share slivers of their lives with us on its pages and in person. We are so grateful, and we hope we can continue this adventure together. ✨

The last time my friends and I were here was four years ago. So much has changed in our lives since then. Some of us moved countries, switched careers, and others got married and started to build a family. It’s amazing how we’ve all grown older and yet the mountains remained to be the same — wild and beautiful. Coming back here felt like traveling in time. I’m glad we got to stay in this piece of heaven for a bit. ⛰️⛅️
