Heads up NSTP 2 Students!

This is a gentle reminder to have your parent or guardian review & sign the waiver for the NSTP 2 track project on the 2nd Trimester of A.Y. 2024-2025. The signed waiver is a prerequisite for participating in the off-campus activity of the track.

Kindly submit your signed waivers to your NSTP 2 instructors until January 18, 2024. ✅

Celebrating National Children's Month! 🌟

November 16, 2024. CIIT NSTP Students under the LTS track has partnered with QCPL (Quezon City Public Library), and welcomed 4Ps parents and guardians from DSWD to CIIT's Interweave Library for a workshop with our invited speaker Carvel Acabal— A Registered Social Worker, child advocate, and peer educator of ChildFund Philippines and the National Anti-Poverty Commission-Children's Basic Sector for over 10 years.

The session discussed non-violent discipline strategies, awareness on recognizing & addressing signs of child abuse, and promoted parent-child communication to create more secure and nurturing homes. 🤍

A CIIT & PRCMO Partnership! 🤝

November 13, 2024. Here are some highlights from yesterday's Memorandum of Agreement signing between PRCMO and CIIT College of Arts and Technology!

Held at the National Ecology Center in Diliman, Quezon City, the school was proudly represented by Ms. Anna Katrina Requilme, CIIT NSTP Head, and Mr. Christian Gabriel Ituriaga, Information Officer!

This event marks a partnership dedicated to transformative initiatives— aiming for a positive change in our communities. Thank you to our esteemed speakers and all who joined us in making this collaboration official! ✅

The Reading Tutorial Project is here! 📖

In partnership with the Quezon City Public Library, CIIT NSTP students are tasked to tutor children in Reading at the city's main library! The Reading Tutorial Project is an LTS Track Literacy Project, one of the two programs under CIIT NSTP— focusing on community literacy and education. CIITzens! 🤍

We’re running the Create Library Book Drive for Basak Integrated School (BIS) in Negros Oriental and you can help! 🎉 BIS is in need of a functional library to serve its 536 students, teachers and staff beginning this SY 24-25. 📖✨

In line with our mission for digital inclusion, we believe that supporting basic literacy 🧑🏻‍🏫 fosters a solid foundation for digital literacy. Be a creator by giving your books! We’re looking for:

• Kindergarten: Activity, Alphabet, Board, Picture, and Story Books
• Elementary: Basic Tech, Concept, Series, Story, and Textbooks

Art and Human Rights Unite! 🎨

The Waste Trace Project Continues!

July 2024. CIIT NSTP 2 students and faculty were given a Pasig River Tour by the DENR-PRCMO! The tour was part of the TWT or Waste Trace Project under our CWTS Track that primarily advocates for the environment. In TWT, CIIT NSTP students trace how plastics end up in Pasig River from grocery stores (buying and disposal habits) and propose for solutions to address the problem.

Sewing Sustainability!

13 July 2024. The CIIT NSTP section under the CWTS Track mobilized and facilitated the Sewing Cloth Pad Training at the Interweave Campus, in collaboration with the Ecostore, Workingmum. The trainees were from Project SOW (Solidarity for Orphans and Widows) in Payatas. The project not only highlights CIIT NSTP's advocacy for sustainability and reducing plastic waste but also for capacitating vulnerable women with sewing skills for their personal and livelihood use.

We did it! ✅

Thank you for participating in the SUP (single-use plastic) - Free Challenge! Within 3 days, we were able to divert 34.25 kg of plastic waste and 115 bottles from the ocean!

We accomplished big in this challenge! 🚮
Let's continue our sustainability goals as a daily habit by:

1. Saying "NO" to Single-Use Plastics and;
2 Throwing our waste into the proper C-Waste bins to avoid waste mismanagement and enter the ocean

Are whales safe from plastic waste in the sea? 🐋

In 2018, a dead S***m Whale washed ashore in Eastern Indonesia, with its stomach full of 5.9 kilograms worth of plastic debris! This tragic story highlights the harm we bring to marine life because of our plastic consumption and pollution.

It's the third and last day of SUP-Free Challenge. Let us keep saying "No" to SUPs to more! 💚

Ever wondered where plastic bottles came from? 🧐

From fossil fuels to microscopic plastic fragments, the creation of a plastic bottle is not as simple as you think it might be. The Philippines is the top emitter of mismanaged plastic into the ocean, harming bodies of water & aquatic animals with waste like plastic bottles that takes 450 years to deteriorate.

As the first day of our 3-day SUP-Free Challenge starts as the main highlight of Greening CIIT Month, our goal is to divert from landfills 69-81kg of plastic waste or at least 300 plastic bottles. And when we do, we make sure this much plastic waste do not enter into the ocean.

The 3-day challenge is also a warm-up as we move into July when sales of bottled waters will be completely banned in CIIT as another solid step in our subscription to the first R in Circular Economy, "Refuse" plastic. Additional measures will also be implemented in this August's upcoming school year to Green CIIT more! 💚

We can only meet the goal if we all run the race as a community! Are you in?

Join the SUP-Free Challenge! ✅

Did you know that we discard an average of 2,400 plastic bottles at Interweave monthly? Our March and June Plastic Audits also revealed that we throw away a total of 23kg-27kg of plastic waste per day.

This month's closing week, we, as one CIIT Community, will attempt to be single-use plastic (SUP) free on June 26-28 as our contribution to the country's observance of environmental month!

We can participate by:

1. Bringing our own tumbler and lunch box to school
2. Not ordering food and drink (even only for these 3 days )
3. Saying "No" to any single-use plastic (SUP)
4. Getting your RSO to campaign for Greening CIIT
5. Posting the campaign on your socials.

After the SUP-Free Challenge, let's all see how much plastic waste we have definitely diverted from the ocean!
