Nakakaproud talaga na since 5 years old ka, and until now, at 7, nagagawa mong mag-qualify sa NCR level. Yung mga opponents mo, at least 10 years old na, and yet, talagang lumalaban ka. You even had the chance to win the championship match (-6 na sa evaluation bar!) and ang tapang mo talaga maglaro, exchanging your queen for two rooks! Sadyang kulang lang sa maturity, na-eexcite ka pa kapag winning kaya nagkakamali. But hey, you are just 7 and we know you will mature and improve. Kahit sabihin pa ng iba na kayang-kaya ka nilang talunin, huwag kang magpapa-apekto and just continue to improve. As long as you want to play, we will be here to support you. We love you Marius and we are always proud of you!

Congratulations to Team Philippines who competed at the 18th Asian Schools Chess Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. The team proudly bagged 5 gold, 14 silver, and 7 bronze medals to end their campaign.

Who would have imagined that at the young age of 7, Marius would already represent the country in an international event and bring home both a trophy and a medal? Despite strong competition from countries like China, India and Kazakhstan—who not only have larger delegations but also more tournament experience—Marius held his own and competed head-to-head with the best.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported Marius in his first overseas tournament!

Marius Constante, a 7-year-old chess wiz from NCR, emerged as the Champion in the Under 7 Category of the Little PACE Chess Warriors Chess Championships held on November 3, 2024. This event saw talented young players from all over the country competing, and Marius claimed victory against a field of fierce competitors from NCR, Cavite, Bicol, Cagayan, Apayao, Negros Oriental, and Samar.

As the champion, Marius will represent the Philippines at the 18th Asian Schools Chess Championships (Under 7 Category) in Bangkok, Thailand, from December 1-11. While his airfare, hotel, and registration fees are generously covered by the Philippine Academy for Chess Excellence, we are seeking support to cover the expenses of Marius' accompanying parent. 🙏 Any amount will help us make this dream a reality for Marius as he heads into his first international tournament.

The competition will be tough, and the field will include prodigies from chess powerhouse countries. We cannot guarantee that Marius will emerge victorious in this tournament, but one thing is for sure: Marius will give his best in every game! Regardless of the outcome, this experience will be invaluable for his growth as an athlete and an individual.

For the whole month, sobrang hectic ng schedule ni Marius. After the Asian Juniors Chess Championships in Tagaytay, Marius had to catch up with the school activities he missed due to the tournament. As much as we want to focus on his chess preparations, Marius’ periodical exams are also scheduled in between the tournaments so we had to squeeze in reviews and catching up with missed lessons. Aside from chess and academic responsibilities, we signed up way back for a Math Olympiad. Akala namin, magkakaroon kami ng time para mag-prepare for this but Marius got sick, so we had to rely on his stock knowledge and problem comprehension. Hindi na natin alam pano pagkakasyahin ang oras mo, pero nagawa mo pa rin Marius ❤️ Congratulations again, our dear baby Marius!

Evey game starts with the first move.

Two years ago, naglakas loob kaming isali si Marius sa kanyang unang chess tournament. This time, naglakas loob naman kaming sumali sa Asian Juniors Chess Championship - isang pangmalakasang tournament na sinasalihan ng mga 20 years old and under chess players mula sa iba’t ibang bansa kagaya ng India, Russia, Vietnam, etc. Sabi namin, kahit maka-one point lang sya, malaking bagay na. Worst case na zero, learning experience na lang talaga.

Pero at the end of the tournament, Marius scored beyond our expectations:

Rapid - 3 wins, 1 draw
Standard - 2 wins, 1 draw
Blitz - 3 wins

Achievement din na may mga games si Marius na nasasabayan nya sa opening at middle game ang opponents. At lahat ng Standard games ni Marius ay tumagal ng higit 2 hours, at ang longest game nya ay umabot ng 3.5 hours.

Dear Marius, great job sa pagsali mo sa tournament. Talaga namang pinagsikapan mong makasabay sa mga chess players na kasali. Itong tournament na ito ang starting line natin sa mas marami pang international tournaments. Win or learn lang tayo lagi.

Salamat po sa nag-sponsor kay Marius para makasali sya sa tournament. Hindi kami maglalakas-loob sumali dito sa tournament kung hindi dahil sa suporta na binigay ninyo kay Marius. Salamat din Coach sa pagtulong kay Marius mag-prepare para sa tournament.

Thank you din sa mga parents at chess players na kasama namin sa tournament. Sobrang haba ng bawat games, pero di nakakainip dahil sa mga nakakausap naming parents at guardians. Although ito yung pinakamahirap na tournament na nasalihan namin so far, ito rin yung pinaka-naenjoy ni Marius na tournament. Pag-alis namin sa venue, nagsabi agad si Marius na nag-enjoy daw sya at namimiss na nya agad ang mga kasama nya sa tournament.

Sa family namin na laging nangungumusta sa games ni Marius, at nakasuporta win or lose, salamat!

And thank you Lord for helping us join this tournament and for keeping us safe.
