You might be in a boat in the middle of a lake. But you are not alone. And that lake has another side. One Jesus has promised to get you to. “Let us go over to the other side,” Jesus said. There will be many storms. Some smaller. And maybe some bigger. But there is a shore. We’ll say it again: there is a shore.

The promise of safe arrival.

Rest.

Renewal.

Victory.

Home.

God’s presence. . . .

So let us press on in the storm. Let’s continue to trust the God who meets us in our storm.

Your chaos will cease. It will not last. You have a future. We have a future. And it’s a future filled with God’s goodness and love and beauty. It’s a future filled with God himself.

EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR SEA
Luke 5:6-7

Jesus not only wants to work through us but needs to work in us. And this is no secondary work of lesser importance. He doesn’t just want to get us from one side of the lake to the other. He uses the “middle.”

The storm we are facing is never a threat to God’s work; it is often a tool for God’s work. Suffering might feel like an interruption to us, but it is instrumental to Jesus.

Undoubtedly, suffering was not God’s plan. He hates evil. All of the sickness, pain, disease, loss, and death we experience is the result of Adam and Eve’s first sin (Gen. 3). Things are not the way they once were in God’s original creation. And they are not what they will one day be when Jesus renews all things and does away with the messiness and brokenness and sin we are all living with. But God can and does use suffering in this life for his redemptive purposes.

IN OUR STORM
“And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.” (Mark‬ ‭4‬:‭39‬ ‭NASB)

The disciples found themselves in water instead of by water. It was getting dark. Evening was coming. And where there is water, there are also waves. Before long, these waves were threatening the very lives of these young followers of Jesus.

But if not for the storm, they would never discover the goodness and power and faithfulness of the God who was with them. Without fear, they would never know faith. Without hurt, they would never know hope.

It’s no wonder Mark records that Jesus was the only one unmoved by the storm. The chaos of the water and storm were no threat to Jesus. In fact, he was in the stern of the boat, sleeping on a cushion. At rest. This was going to be a lesson not for Jesus but for the disciples. And for us.

We need water to grow. And some lessons we can learn only in the midst of chaos, not in a classroom. And no matter how we get there, we can trust the God who meets us in our storm.

ALL-SUFFICIENT GOD

Watching “Low Batt Ka Na Ba? Kay Jesus Full Chrage Ka” last night, I contemplated on the powerful point of Tin, one of the panelist, as she shared her recent experience on relationship. She expressed, “akala mo dun ka empty, akala mo yun na, pero it is not failed relationship but it is emptiness of God.”

Indeed, no spiritual need can be ever met with material/physical things. Only Jesus Christ can be the true satisfaction of life. All that failed in our life is not about that failure but it is our emptiness of God. But when we are filled with/full of God, no matter what we go through run into insignificance compared to the value of Jesus in us.

LORD, I’VE NEGLECTED OUR RELATIONSHIP FOR A LONG TIME. HOW DO I BEGIN AGAIN?
Come back to me and live! Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain.
Amos 5:4; Isaiah 30:15; Isaiah 54:10

WHY WOULD YOU ALLOW ME TO NEGLECT OUR RELATIONSHIP FOR SO LONG?
I am being patient for your sake. I do not want anyone to be destroyed, but want everyone to repent. I must wait for you to come to me so I can show you my love and compassion. For I am a faithful God. Come close to me, and I will come close to you.
2 Peter 3:9; Isaiah 30:18; James 4:8

WHAT CAN I PRAY TO ASK YOU TO RESTORE OUR RELATIONSHIP AFTER A SEASON OF NEGLECT?
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.
Psalm 86:5, 11

Distance in a relationship doesn’t happen overnight but through many small decisions to give your attention to something else. However, even if you have neglected your relationship with God for a long time, it’s never too late to start over. He promises to respond with grace and forgiveness. Move a small step closer toward God today.

What can you choose to let go of to make time with God your priority?

We may be a great planner but it’s a comfort knowing that God's purpose for our life will come to pass because of His faithfulness, not because of our planning! What a relief! The old saying 'hindsight is 20/20 vision' is so true. When we look back at our life, there are so many things that we 'planned' that didn't come to pass, and I thank God that they didn't!

So today, be encouraged that our God and Father has a plan for our life that will not be thwarted by anything! We can rest in His faithfulness to fulfill our lives’ purpose simply because He loves you!

The God who created the universe, the Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Everlasting Father, is on your side. He is for you! He has placed all of heaven's resources on your side.

Many things will oppose us in this orphan world system, but none of these things can possibly stand against our God and Father... for nothing will ever separate you from His love. Nothing! Death can't. Life can't. Angels can't. Demons can't. The present. The future.

Nothing in all creation will ever separate you from the love that God has for you in Jesus Christ! (Romans 8:35-39) May we all know this truth more deeply today than we have known it ever before… If God is for us, who can be against us?

This is a call to rest and wait. In our culture, these are two of the most challenging things that we can do. While this promise seems simple enough to accomplish, something in the human heart struggles to rest genuinely. I am not talking about having a siesta or taking a vacation, but a rest in the very core of our hearts where we cease from all striving.

When we learn to rest in the center of our being, we will cease from our own human initiatives and position ourselves to wait for the Lord to work on our behalf. This is not a place of passivity because we have to work at entering into this place of rest. We will only allow ourselves to enter into this place when we are convinced that we no longer have to strive to find acceptance in the loving embrace of our God and Father.

One of the highest forms of trust we can demonstrate is to truly learn to rest and wait patiently for the Lord. In this place, we realize that we don't have to protect ourselves, provide for ourselves, initiate for ourselves, etc., because we have a God who is head over heels in love with us and has promised to work on our behalf. All He asks is that we learn to rest and wait patiently for Him.

Today's promise says that we will inherit the land when we do! Not because of anything we do but because of the goodness of our heavenly Dad.

He has gone before us in every way. He suffered every temptation common to man yet without sin. He is a faithful High Priest who understands all of our struggles. He took upon Himself our sin and He has shared His vast inheritance with us. ...And He is not ashamed to be called our big brother!

Let us take the time to reflect on the fact that God's eternal plan was to bring you into His everlasting family so that He could be your Father and Jesus could be your big brother. What an amazing salvation we have in the Triune God!

27/06/2024

We live in a temporal society. Here today, gone tomorrow. Things rust, thieves break in and steal, economies crash. There is nothing in this life that will last forever. The Bible says that even the heavens and the earth will one day be re-created. We are encouraged in God's Word to look at the unseen things and not the things that are seen. The eternal things, not the temporal things.

Those who do the will of our God and Father will live forever! What a promise! May we fix our eyes today on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith and seek to simply be obedient to what He calls us to do at this moment. Because of Jesus, we have a promise to live forever in His glorious kingdom.

Jesus tells us that even if our faith is as tiny as a mustard seed, we are able to tell a mountain to be thrown into the sea. God understands our frailty, yet He continues to encourage us to simply have faith and watch what happens. Let’s speak to our mountains how great our God is.

Many of us struggle with the continual, ever present awareness of our sinful condition. Somehow we think that our sin consciousness is actually pleasing to God. That somehow we will stay in a posture of humility by remembering how wretched we are.

I believe that the very opposite is true! We are justified by our faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ and we know by Hebrews 11:6 that it is our faith that pleases God. So next time the enemy of your soul wants to remind you of all your past failures, declare this promise aloud... God has removed all my sins from me as far as the east is from the west and I will walk with Him.

Some of you might be reading this promise and thinking about negative past experiences that you have had with your own father and shudder to think that God would treat you in the same way. I think that is one of the most common roadblocks that many of us experience in our journey to know God as Father.

It is very natural for us to project onto God many of the same life experiences that we have had with our earthly fathers. Over the years, we have even heard some comments where people have said to us... "I have had one father and I don't want another one!"

The truth is that God is the perfect Father and He loves us completely and infinitely better than even the best earthly dad. Jesus came to show us what His Father was really like and to bring us into a real, authentic relationship with God as Father. If you don't feel safe relating to God as Father, ask Jesus to show you what He is really like and He will be glad to do it.

When it comes to our daily provision, we need not look to our own resources for the answer, but to the unlimited resources that come from heaven. May we all echo the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray to our Father in the Lord’s prayer and say... “Give us this day our daily bread”.

If Jesus said that we should ask our Father daily for provision, then we need to link our faith with expectancy that He hears our prayers and He will be faithful to provide... Just by opening up His hand!

It has always been His work, not ours. It is God’s heart, God’s vision, and God’s power that will bring about all that He has planned and purposed in our lives. That is why the Apostle Paul encourages the Philippians in today’s promise to be confident in knowing that the One who began a good work in them would would perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

“You have confessed your sins, and in heart put them away. You have resolved to give yourself to God. Now go to Him, and ask that He will wash away your sins and give you a new heart. Then believe that He does this because He has promised. This is the lesson which Jesus taught while He was on earth, that the gift which God promises us, we must believe we do receive, and it is ours.

God promises to do all this for you through Christ. You believe that promise. You confess your sins and give yourself to God. You will to serve Him. Just as surely as you do this, God will fulfill His word to you. If you believe the promise,—believe that you are forgiven and cleansed,—God supplies the fact; you are made whole, just as Christ gave the paralytic power to walk when the man believed that he was healed. It is so if you believe it.”
