Tinder Goes Blind Date

When Tinder was created a decade ago, it was a creative take on the Hot or Not rating website that Gen Xers and elder Millennials may remember. But now Gen Z — known for its authenticity in everything from clothes to relationships — has entered the dating scene. Tinder is tailoring its approach, rolling out a new feature to encourage them to get to know each other before making decisions based on appearance.

The new Blind Date feature pairs users and has them engage in conversation before seeing each others’ profiles. If the users decide to match after exchanging words, only then will they be able to see photos.

Tinder announced Thursday that the addition to the app’s Fast Chat features, Blind Date, offers Gen Z daters a more authentic online experience while tapping into their ’90s nostalgia — long before they were on the market. Users will be matched based on commonalties and given prompts to promote conversation such as “It’s OK to wear a shirt ____ times without washing it” and “I put ketchup on____,” according to the statement.

BTS’s V Tests Positive For COVID-19

“Hello.

This is BIGHIT MUSIC.

We would like to provide you with some information regarding the health of BTS member V.

V visited the hospital Tuesday afternoon on the 15th after experiencing a mild sore throat and took the PCR test. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 tonight.

V completed two rounds of COVID-19 vaccinations and is not presenting any extraordinary symptoms other than a mild fever and sore throat. He is currently undergoing treatment at home while waiting for further guidelines from the health care authorities.

There was contact with the other members on Saturday the 12th, but everyone was wearing a mask, and there was no close contact. None of the BTS members other than V are presenting any symptoms, and everyone received negative results from the preemptive self-tests.

The company places the artists’ health as our top priority and we will do everything we can to aid V in his speedy recovery. We will also diligently cooperate with the requests and guidelines of the health care authorities.

Brabus Partners with KTM; Releases Brabus 1300 R

Brabus, the purveyor of wildly powerful Mercedes-Benz vehicles, is branching out into the world of motorcycles for the first time. Mercedes-Benz doesn't make a bike, so the tuner worked with KTM to turn the 1290 Super Duke R Evo into a limited-edition model named 1300 R.

KTM will begin taking orders for the 1300 R on February 14, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in Germany, which is 9:00 a.m. in New York and 6:00 a.m. in California. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but we know that production will be limited to 154 units — 77 will be finished in Magma Red and 77 will be painted in Signature Black. For context, the 1290 Super Duke R Evo carries a base price of $19,599 in the United States.

Weekday Ban on Election Caravans

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos urged candidates to observe campaign guidelines, particularly the Metro Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) directive prohibiting caravans in major thoroughfares on weekdays.

He said scheduling arrangements will be convenient for the motorists and commuters who are rushing to and from their destinations on weekdays.

WHO: Pandemic's 'acute phase' could end by midyear

The head of the World Health Organization has said that the acute phase of the pandemic could end this year, if around 70 percent of the world gets vaccinated.

"Our expectation is that the acute phase of this pandemic will end this year, of course with one condition, the 70 percent vaccination (target is achieved) by mid this year around June, July," Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, told reporters in South Africa.

"If that is to be done, the acute phase can really end, and that is what we are expecting. It's in our hands. It's not a matter of chance. It's a matter of choice."

"We expect this vaccine to be more suited to the contexts in which it will be used, with fewer storage constraints and at a lower price," said the WHO boss.

‘WORLD’S FIRST ELECTRIC BATMOBILE’ IS NEAR-PERFECT REPLICA OF BATMAN’S ‘DARK KNIGHT’ RIDE

According to Robb Report, the “world’s first electric Batmobile” (as its billed) weighs just 1,322 pounds thanks to a build utilizing plastics, carbon fiber and composites instead of heavy metal. The choice in lightweight materials is smart, as the movie car’s roaring 5.7-liter V8 and its 500 horses has been replaced by a pair of batteries that produce considerably less power. No specs were available except for an underwhelming top speed of 65 mph.

Marco Studios’ Batmobile is currently on display at the Van Daryl automotive gallery in Ho Chi Minh City.

Anthony Ramos To Star In Marvel’s “Ironheart” Disney+ Series

One of the current Disney+ series currently in development by Marvel Studios is “Ironheart”, which stars Dominique Thorne as genius inventor Riri Williams who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man himself, Tony Stark.

It’s been revealed by Deadline that Anthony Ramos has joined the cast of the series in a key role, which is currently unknown. This character might not have a big role in the “Ironheart” series, but it will play a bigger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Anthony Ramos has recently starred in “In The Heights”, “Hamilton”, “Godzilla: King of the Monsters”, “A Star Is Born” and will be also starring in the upcoming film, “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts”.

Ford’s remote vehicle app FordPass was updated a week ago, and Electrek reports that it contains a set of image files hinting at a possible driverless parking assistant feature.

Remote parking promises a future with the ability to park a car in a tight garage or parking space without fear of getting stuck in the cabin. Hyundai most recently came out with such a feature using just the key fob called Smart Park (aka Smaht Park).

Following in the steps of Tesla’s quite popular Summon feature
The images have filenames beginning with “freeDriveBehind” and “freeDriveForward,” which show stencil drawings of what looks like an overhead view of a Ford F-150 Lighting with arrows pointing from the rear-back and the front-forward, respectively.

Associated images included also show the electric truck’s front view in between two Mustang Mach-Es while a checkbox displays on an iPhone, which is a fairly apt representation of a driver-free parking function.

It wouldn’t be off-brand either for Ford to call the feature FreeDrive as the filenames suggest. The company’s marketing team seems to favor word mash-ups like BlueCruise, ActiveGlide, FordPass, PowerBoost, EcoBoost, EcoSport, and more.

Australia Reopens To Vaccinated Travellers

Australia will open its borders to all vaccinated tourists and business travelers from Feb. 21 in a further relaxation of pandemic restrictions announced Monday.

Australia imposed some of the world’s toughest travel restrictions on its citizens and permanent residents in March 2020 to prevent them from bringing Covid-19 home.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said his senior ministers agreed on Monday that the border would reopen to all vaccinated visas holders from Feb. 21.

Morrison said visitors must have proof of vaccination. He referred to Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic being deported by the Australian government last month because he was not vaccinated against coronavirus.

According to a Danish study published on Monday. A sub-variant of the highly contagious Omicron coronavirus strain is even more infectious than the original version,

Sub-variant BA.2 -- also called "stealth Omicron" -- was detected earlier this year and has displaced the first Omicron variant, known as BA.1, as the dominant strain in Denmark.

A person infected with BA.2 has a 39% chance of transmitting the virus to someone else in their household within a week, compared to a 29% risk with BA.1, Denmark's SSI health authority said in a statement.

The study by SSI researchers and Danish universities involved 18,000 people and was carried out between Dec. 20 and Jan. 18.

SSI doctor Camilla Holten Moller said BA.2 was more likely to infect unvaccinated people than BA.1.

Those who have been fully jabbed, particularly those who have received a booster dose, are much less likely to catch the strain, she added.

The SSI had previously said BA.2 was one-and-a-half times more infectious than BA.1, according to preliminary data.

Scientists are still monitoring the sub-variant's transmissibility and the severity of illness it causes, but international data suggest it could spread quickly.

Denmark on Tuesday will become the first EU country to lift all coronavirus restrictions despite record case numbers, citing its high vaccination rates and the lesser severity of Omicron.

The original Omicron variant was first detected in South Africa in November 2021 and has since become the world's dominant strain.
