π What is Typography?
π What are the different typefaces?
Typography is the art of organizing text in a way that is engaging, appealing, and legible to effectively convey information.
Like brand color, it must be carefully considered since it also influences how your audience views your brand. β’
Fonts and typeface are two more key typography terms that we should be familiar with.
π The term "typeface" refers to both a family of typefaces and a single type design. A typeface is Times New Roman, for example.
π Font, on the other hand, refers to the size, weight, and style of a typeface, such as Times New Roman, 12 pt. Italic.
To select the ideal typefaces for your brand, we must first understand the psychology behind them.
Here are the 6 fundamental categories of typefaces and the personalities they reflect.
β Serif
It is the earliest typeface, named for the "feet" at the bottom of the letters. It is regarded as classic, conventional, and trustworthy.
β Sans Serif
This typeface is perceived as modern, minimal, and clean since it is simpler than Serif.
β Slab Serif
Slab serifs are a type of serif typeface with bigger, blockier serifs. They appear more rough, bold, and quirky than standard serif fonts.
β Script
Script typefaces are distinctive and elegant fonts that imitate handwriting.
β Hand Written
This typeface represents a playful, informal and, artistic approach when used in a brand.
β Decorative
The most diverse typefaces are decorative fonts. They include any typeface that employs unusual shapes, forms, or proportions to achieve a highly stylized appearance.
A combination of these fonts will reveal a lot about your brand's personality so you must not take typography lightly. π
