I'm not asking you to be perfect; I'm asking you to care." That hit me hard. Kaya simula noon, binago ko talaga ang sarili ko. Simula noon, I took it upon myself to really reflect on my actions. Hindi ko na hinayaan na maging defensive tuwing may pag-uusapan kami. Instead, I learned to listen—hindi lang basta makinig, kundi talagang unawain kung ano ang gusto niyang sabihin.

Na-realize ko na minsan, hindi mo kailangang magbigay ng solusyon agad. Sometimes, all they want is for you to be present and to show that you truly care. Mas naging bukas ang communication namin, at naging mas magaan ang samahan namin.

Ngayon, Jen and I live in harmony. Hindi man kami perpekto, pero natutunan naming mag-adjust at mag-compromise para sa isa’t isa. Mas magaan ang bawat araw knowing na hindi ko na siya binibigyang dahilan para magdamdam. Relationships are hard work, pero kapag may malasakit, tiwala, at pagmamahal, kaya mong i-overcome kahit anong challenge.
