NewsWave: TUBBATAHA REEFS NATURAL PARK AND WORLD HERITAGE UNVEILS CHILDREN'S BOOK ON 31ST ANNIVERSARY

In celebration of Tubbataha Reefs' 31st anniversary as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park launched "Ako si Klawni ng Tubbataha, Nananalangin"—a heartwarming children's book about Klawni, the clownfish who prays for the conservation of the ocean.

Park Superintendent Angelique Songco said that copies of the book will be given for free in public schools.

Originally published in 1998, this second edition is written by John Iremil Teodoro and illustrated by Raphael Levi Arnan.

The book spreads a vital message of environmental stewardship to the next generation.

PALAWAN PREPARES FOR WORLD BEST ISLAND TRAVEL AND TRADE EXPO IN MAKATI NEXT YEAR

Mahigit sa 80 booths na nagtatampok ng iba't-ibang produkto mula sa lalawigan ang masasaksihan sa gaganaping Palawan: World Best Island Travel and Trade Expo 2025 sa Glorietta, Makati sa darating na Pebrero.

Ayon kay Palawan Tourism Council President Rey Felix Rafols, layunin nito na palakasin pa ang industriya ng turismo ng Palawan at patatagin ang kooperasyon sa pagitan ng stakeholders nito.

Maliban sa travel and trade expo, magkakaroon din ng Business-to-Business o (B2B) meetings na magbibigay daan para sa business networking ng mga negosyante sa Palawan.

Sinabi pa ni Rafols na ang malaking aktibidad na ito ay mas lalo pang magpapakilala sa Palawan bilang nangungunang tourist destination sa buong bansa.

Katuwang ng Palawan Tourism Council sa aktibidad na ito ang Provincial at City Government sa pamamagitan ng City at Provincial Tourism Office.

Silver medalist naman ang Indonesia, habang Bronze medalist din ang isa pang swimmer mula sa Mindanao, si Rodolfo Apilado III ng Philippines Team A, na nagrehistro ng 2:20.82.

CHAVIT SINGSON VISITS PALAWAN, PUSHES 3-POINT SOLUTIONS FOR SENATE BID

Businessman and former Ilocos Sur Governor 𝗟𝘂𝗶𝘀 “𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘁” 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗼𝗻 visited Palawan on December 1 as part of his 2025 Senate campaign. Running as an Independent, Singson emphasized his belief in "Lakas Loob" (courage) and "Loko-Loko" (unconventional) solutions to tackle the country’s toughest issues.

He stated that bold, “crazy” ideas are needed for real change, particularly in 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Singson stressed that ordinary solutions won’t solve the country’s pressing problems—only out-of-the-box thinking will.

PUV Modernization: Affordable Electric Vehicles for All

A key part of Singson’s platform is his Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Modernization Program. While the government has started modernizing transport, Singson plans to go further by offering electric vehicles (EVs) to public transport operators at a much lower price—P1.2 million each, compared to the usual P3 million.

Singson also announced that his factory in Batangas will begin manufacturing EVs by January 2025. His plan includes making these vehicles available to transport groups, including those in Palawan, with 𝗻𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁.

“Walang driver na papatol umutang ng EVs, malulugi sila eh. Ako na lang magkakapital lahat,” he said, stressing that this unprecedented move will make EVs affordable for drivers and help modernize the transport sector. He added, “Saan kayo nakarinig ng magpapa-utang ng bilyones na walang interes? Wala. Ako lang ang loko-loko na gagawa nito.”

Despite the financial risk, Singson vowed, “Hindi na bale ako malugi, basta manalo ang Pilipino, gagawin ko.”

Support from Local Transport Groups
Singson’s proposals received support from local transport groups like Puerto Princesa TODA Inc., which represents over 7,000 drivers. Efnie Alvior Lusoc, president of the group, welcomed Singson’s innovative approach and his commitment to addressing the concerns of transport workers.

“Marami tayong pending na prangkisa. Kailangan ng tao ang sistema. Sana manalo si Chavit para maayos ito,” Lusoc said.

VBank and Chavit500 Initiatives
Singson also unveiled two additional initiatives: VBank, or “Bangko ng Masa,” a digital bank designed for poor but deserving Filipinos. To open an account, Filipinos simply need to download the VBank app, fill out a form, and submit it online.

He also introduced Chavit500, a proposal to provide P500 monthly financial aid to all unemployed Filipinos, for life. “Lahat ng walang trabaho, makakatanggap ng 500 pesos buwan-buwan, habang buhay,” he said.

A Bold Vision for the Future

As his campaign continues, Singson’s message is clear: he is committed to addressing the country’s most pressing challenges with both courage and unconventional solutions. “Kapag iboto niyo ang loko-loko sa Senado, may kasama kayong ipapatanggal ang mga loko-loko sa gobyerno,” he said, highlighting his readiness to take on not only the system’s flaws but also those who have perpetuated them. //
