A BIG STEP FOR HAPPY BEGINNERS SCHOOL OF LEARNING!

partnership with Pure Abilities Program of Happy Beginners School of Learning Inc. on July 17, 2024 at Jolibee Araneta, Bacolod City.

needs into the workforce underscoring the Ponce Group’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity, setting a new standard in corporate social responsibility within the industry."

Happy Beginners School of Learning (HBSL) is one of our community partners in the making of the film "LOVE CHILD" and was also featured in the film.
Happy Beginners is a Bacolod-based school that offers various programs and services catering to the diverse needs of children. They provide intervention programs for special needs children, along with regular classes for elementary students. Additionally, they operate an extension school in Bago City, also located in Negros Occidental.

A guy, a girl, and a child who will teach them the enduring power of love. A romcom for Cinemalaya? Why not! Real-life couple and two of the most talented actors of their generation, RK BAGATSING and JANE OINEZA, star in “LOVE CHILD,” a film based on the first-place Palanca-winning script by Jonathan Jurilla.

Jonathan Jurilla is a college professor at the University of the Philippines Visayas-Iloilo, a writer, filmmaker, and a father of a child with autism. This is his debut full-length film.

“Love Child” is a co-production between Southern Lantern Studios and Regal Entertainment Inc.

Through Asst. City Administrator, Ismael Penado, Mayor Neil also extended his congratulations to the team's Film Director, Jonathan Jurilla, a Talisaynon, for being one of the finalists of the 2024 Cinemalaya Film Festival for his full length film "Love Child," inspired by his own son who is on the spectrum.

Successful and Heartwarming Screening of "My Boy Superman"

The screening of the short documentary "My Boy Superman" at the UPV Cinematheque drew a full house and left hearts warmed yesterday. Written and directed by Jonathan Jurilla, the film offers an introspective look into his journey as a father of a child with autism.

In addition to the emotionally stirring documentary, attendees were treated to an enlightening talkback session featuring Developmental Pediatrician Dr. Celina Cordero-Gellada and parents of persons with autism, Mr Nestor Te and Mrs Sonia Dolorfino. This session sparked engaging discussions about autism, providing valuable insights into the challenges faced by individuals and families within the spectrum.

The presence of esteemed guests further shed light on the multifaceted issues surrounding autism, emphasizing the importance of community support and awareness. The discussions highlighted the need for better education and societal understanding of autism, as well as the crucial role played by organizations like ASP-Iloilo in advocacy and policy influence.

"My Boy Superman" serves as an effective catalyst for meaningful dialogue about the complexities of autism. Recently, the film received recognition with a Bronze Award in the Documentary Category at the Montañosa Film Festival, held from March 16-24 in Baguio City.

The special screening is part of Cine Semana Film Screening of the University of the Philippine Visayas Office of Initiatives for Culture and the Arts (UPV-OICA) and is brought to you by Sugar Brown Film Productions in collaboration with Autism Society of the Philippines-Iloilo.

This Wednesday, April 3, at the UPV-OICA Cine Semana feature of "My Boy Superman," catch Dr. CELINA P. CORDERO-GELLADA as fellow talkback speaker!
DR. CELINA P. CORDERO-GELLADA is the first Developmental Pediatrician in Panay island. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from West Visayas State University (WVSU), had her residency training in General Pediatrics from West Visayas State University Hospital, and fellowship in Developmental Pediatrics at UP-PGH. She has a master’s degree in Master of Management major in Business Management from the University of the Philippines Visayas.
Currently, Dr. Gellada is the Vice President for Medical and Allied Sciences and a Professor in the College of Medicine at WVSU. She is a Fellow of the Philippine Pediatric Society and the Philippine Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics.
She is married to Dr. Jeffrey Gellada, an Internist & Psychiatrist, and they are blessed with 4 beautiful children.

The Montañosa Film Festival aims to strengthen Baguio Citys’ rebranding as a safe, smart, sustainable
