In the spirit of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, our school community is reminded of our Christian duty to care for God’s creation. As a Catholic school, we are called not only to academic excellence but also to live out stewardship by protecting the Earthβ€”our common homeβ€”entrusted to us by God.

In line with this mission, the school hereby implements the following provisions:

1. No to Single-Use Plastics
The bringing, selling, and distribution of single-use plastics (such as plastic bottles, straws, plastic bags, sachets, etc.) within the school campus are strictly prohibited.

2. Yes to Reusables
All students, faculty, staff, and visitors are strongly encouraged to bring their own reusable bottles and other eco-friendly containers. The school shall provide accessible and safe refill stations to support this initiative.

3. Formation and Awareness
Teachers are encouraged to integrate the values of environmental stewardship and care for creation in their lessons, class activities, and outreach programs. Regular information drives and eco-campaigns will be conducted to deepen awareness of Laudato Si’ and our shared ecological mission.

4. Community Commitment
Parents and guardians are invited to support this directive by practicing the same eco-friendly measures at home, ensuring consistency between family life and school practices.

This directive is a call to actionβ€”an invitation to take small yet meaningful steps toward a culture of care, responsibility, and sustainability. By refusing single-use plastics and embracing reusables, we actively contribute to protecting our common home and nurturing future generations.

As Pope Francis reminds us: β€œLiving our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience.” (Laudato Si’, 217)

May our collective efforts be a true testimony of faith in action.

In his homily, Fr. NiΓ±o emphasized that God is a loving God who has plans and purposes for each of us. He further highlighted that laziness hinders the development of one’s potential, reminding the faithful to actively respond to God’s grace through diligence and responsibility.

NEW YEAR |

Another year has ended and the same will come, yet surely not with similar content. Many things have transpired in our lives--both worth-remembering, otherwise and in between. Plenty of people have we touched and met, and plenty too have we been inspired and even hurt. Joys are experienced and sadness, sorrows and pains are felt. But they have their consumation time after time while embracing day by day the fresh and the hope-to-be-better seconds, minutes, hours and days of moments.

What a great gift we have! We have been given another chance, another beginning. And it would seem ordinary to glance at this (just a normal succession of events!), but it has its depth and overly beautiful connotation. After those better and bitter days of the previous year (typhoons, earthquakes and other environmental disasters, pandemic, our personal struggles and undertakings, those seemingly eternal, crooked government transactions, work and family problems, societal and ecclesial mismanagements and crisis and others to name a few) there is this advent of hope of another surely precious and memorable year.

Again (and again!), we have to get excited for another birthdays, another anniversaries and even monthsaries, another Christmas (with its unique nostalgia), another year of course of bringing the same hope, etc. Overly routinary though, these make life. These we have to experience. These we cannot but put love and all the goodness we have despite our human frailties and negative inclinations.

Again, the past has ended but it has to continue in our hands. What's ahead of us is still empty and we have to write all the essential things--our beautiful stories and legacies--in our book of another year, another parcel of this borrowed life.

With all these, we cannot but say a note of thanksgiving to everyone, and most especially to God for giving us this chance, this another opportunity to better ourselves again and again, and again.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE! GOD BLESS

-Rev. Fr. Jerald N. Pinay | School Director

πŒπ„π‘π‘π˜ π‚π‡π‘πˆπ’π“πŒπ€π’!

As we celebrate Christmas, we remember a sacred moment in historyβ€”the humble birth of Jesus Christ, the promised Savior, born not in splendor but in love. This season calls us to reflect on God’s immeasurable grace, revealed through the gift of His Son, who came to bring light to the world and hope to every heart.

May this Christmas renew our faith, strengthen our compassion, and inspire us to live out Christ’s message of love, humility, and service. As we gather in joy and thanksgiving, let us honor the true meaning of the season: God with us, now and always.

Merriest Christmas, Monicanians! From our families to yours!

KENOSIS |

Christmas is a time when we are reminded once again that life is not only for ourselves but most essentially for others because this is the very time when β€œGod emptied himself and took the form of a slave being born in the likeness of men.” As Pope Francis would have it, β€œRivers do not drink their own waters. Trees do not eat their own fruit. Flowers do not produce fragrance for themselves and the sun does not shine on itself. Living for others is a rule of nature. Life is good when we are happy, yet life is way, way better when others are happy because of us.”

More than thanking people who have touched our lives in many varied ways (the supportive families and relatives that we have, the friends present in days of joy and pain, the individuals who have inspired us in one way or another, and many others to name a few), we must thank God in a very special way for His great love for us which has made Christmas Day very special and has created precious and lasting effect on humanity, even on the whole of creation.

You see, it is a mystery to meditate on the fact that people become stirred still during Christmas, though Christ was born way, way before our time. This somehow means that what He has done for us, his β€œkenosis” or self-emptying, was not just in vain on the part of humanity, at least on the level of remembering. This kenosis is also a beautiful reminder for us that everytime we give, a part of us must be given too; thus, transcending beyond our yearly left-overs, our dispensable extra’s, and all the rest of the unused in us for God offers the very oneness in Him and the fullness of Him. Like a pelican, may we learn to be hurt, to be broken and to sacrifice for the sake of others. May we not close our hearts and minds to this very reality of Christmas.

May we continue to build up the work that Christ has started since His very birthβ€”the very act of entering into humanity to feel with us, to struggle with us, to cry with us, to rejoice with us and for us to die, welcoming and preparing for us a place in His Kingdom. On our part we are enjoined with this challenging act of positively stepping into the lives of others, most especially on those who are feeling depressed, oppressed and abandoned by the same humanity. Let us pray for this grace of becoming β€œalter Christus” or another Christ amidst this mundane world.

Don’t you already have Christmas presents to people close to your heart and otherwise? If you have, then you already have one for Christ!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Yesterday, to formally open the Christmas Party and Family Day, the entire school communityβ€”together with the parentsβ€”gathered for a Holy Mass held at the school covered court. The celebration was presided by Rev. Fr. Jerald N. Pinay, School Director, and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. NiΓ±o B. Tamayo, School Treasurer.

In his homily, Fr. Jerald highlighted the value of waiting, reminding everyone that meaningful things take time and that we should not always seek what is β€œinstant,” especially during this season of joyful anticipation.
