‼️WEEKEND WORD
Their Faith

When Jesus saw their faith, he said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven." (Luke 5:20)

The friends of the paralytic believed that if they could just get him in front of Jesus, he would be healed. Their faith was so strong that nothing could discourage them. When they found the door blocked by the crowd, they went to the roof. When the roof stood in their way, they made a hole. When the distance from the roof to the floor separated them from Jesus, they found a way to lower their friend down. Three major obstacles—yet they refused to give up.

And there were likely more challenges. Imagine the negative voices they must have heard:
"What do you think you're doing?"
"Keep it down! You're making too much noise."
"You're in my way!"
"Stop cutting in line—wait your turn!"
"Who do you think you are?"

None of that mattered. They had to get their friend to Jesus.

Jesus saw their faith—not just the faith of the paralytic, but the faith of his friends as well. I wonder if the paralytic even had any faith at the beginning of the story. Given the lack of services and the social stigma surrounding disabilities at the time, he may have been discouraged and hopeless. But as he witnessed his friends' determination, did his expectations begin to rise? Did their faith spark something in him?

According to Luke, it did. Jesus saw their faith and said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven."

Do not grow weary in your efforts to bring your friends to Jesus, no matter the obstacles you face. Whether you struggle to come up with creative ideas for ministry, encounter people who dismiss media outreach as unspiritual, or endure ridicule for your faith—keep going. Nothing should discourage you from leading others to Jesus.

As you serve this week, remember: your works of faith can be used by the Holy Spirit to ignite faith in your friends. - Keith Garner

‼️WEEKEND WORD
Present

One day as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem, were sitting there. And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick. (Luke 5:17 NIV)

There was something interesting happening that day—the power of the Lord was present to heal. What made the difference? Why, on this particular day, was healing readily available? The presence of Jesus.

His presence changes everything. It shifts atmospheres, brings restoration, and makes the impossible possible. The friends of the paralytic knew this. They fought through obstacles, tore open a roof, and lowered their friend into the very presence of Jesus—because they understood that where Jesus is, miracles happen.

Today, as believers, we carry the presence of Jesus with us. He has given us His authority, and through His Spirit, we are called to be His hands and feet in the world. Our presence matters.

It is essential for us to be actively present in the lives of our friends and family, engaged in the experiences of our classmates and colleagues, and involved in the events within our community. Even our presence online matters. Because wherever we go, Jesus goes. And where Jesus is, miracles happen.

This week, as you serve, do not underestimate the value of your presence. His presence through you matters. - Keith Garner

‼️WEEKEND WORD
Procedure

📖 And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I will; be clean." And immediately the leprosy left him. 14 And he charged him to tell no one, but "go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, for a proof to them." (Luke 5:13-14 ESV)

As church media workers, we often focus on the immediate impact of our work—engaging visuals, powerful videos, and seamless live streams. We want people to encounter Jesus and be transformed instantly. But in Luke 5, we see an important truth: even after a miraculous touch from Jesus, there was still a process to follow.

The l***r was healed immediately when Jesus touched him. But Jesus didn’t stop there—He instructed the man to go and show himself to the priest and to make an offering as commanded in the Law of Moses. Why? Because while Jesus brings transformation, there is often a process of obedience, accountability, and testimony that follows. This process not only validates the work of Jesus but honors and glorifies Him as well.

The same applies to us in media ministry. Sometimes, we desire immediate results—more engagement, greater reach, lives changed in an instant. But God’s work often involves steps of faithfulness beyond the miracle. Maybe He’s calling you to be more disciplined in your craft, to refine your skills, or to work through a structure rather than rushing ahead. Maybe you’ve seen God move in your ministry, but there are still procedures and best practices that need to be followed for long-term effectiveness. - Keith Garner
