Celebrating the legacy of democracy! Today marks the 108th founding anniversary of the Philippine Senate, as declared in the Jones Law on August 29, 1916.

The Philippine Legislature, consisting of the Senate and the House of Representatives, was established under the Philippine Autonomy Act, commonly referred to as the Jones Law. This law was enacted by the United States Congress and took effect on August 29, 1916. From October 1916 to November 1935, the Legislature functioned as the Philippines' legislative body. It was replaced by the National Assembly following the inauguration of the Commonwealth of the Philippines on November 15, 1935, as outlined in the Philippine Constitution.

The Senate remains a cornerstone of our nation's governance and a symbol of our commitment to freedom, justice, and progress. Mabuhay ang Senado ng Pilipinas!
