Let's go AK!

AK TAKES HIS FIRST USA CHAMPIONSHIP!

After years of finishing silver, Filipino Tekken champion Alexandre "AK" Laverez has broken his overseas win drought with a massive win at Combo Breaker 2024.

AK's tournament run at Illinois' biggest fighting game event was a straight line. He dropped zero games until top 24, and went straight through the biggest names in the competitive Tekken scene. This includes a 2-0 win against Japan's Nobi in Top 24, a 2-1 victory against Korea's Rangchu in Top 8 to get into winners finals, 3-1 against Pakistan's Farzeen, and finally taking a nail biter 3-2 win against world's top contender and Pakistan's Arslan Ash.

The win earns AK a little more than $9000 in prize money and more importantly, a solid 560 points in his TEKKEN World Tour 2024 ranking. This puts him up in 3rd place overall in the tour leaderboard, boosting his chances to make it in this year's final event.
