People often say “bahala na ang nasa itaas”, referring to “itaas” as heaven and “ang nasa itaas” as God. While this statement is not entirely wrong, it still shows the distant relationship of the person saying it to God. Though he knows that a God or a higher being exist, the idea that he’s up there tends to undermine the fact that He is present everywhere at the same time. God is with us wherever we may be when we accepted Jesus in our hearts, and that gave us the right to become God’s children.
(John 1:12) Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. We can now call Him our father and personally experience His love.
I remember daddy also uses this statement before, but when he personally experienced God’s grace. God revealed His character and power to him. Daddy eventually stopped referring to God as “nasa itaas”, he was able to say (or write - since he had a tracheotomy and can’t really speak) this statement before he died:
“Alam nyo mga anak, ibang iba pag tinanggap nyo na ang mahal na PANGINOON sa buhay natin, dati pride ko grabe, ngayon di na ko takot.”
Daddy personally knew that God forgave him and he had that FAITH that surpassed the fear of death.
