President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. clarified that he has yet to receive the formal recommendation of the Department of Agriculture on the proposed declaration of a food security emergency
‘GINAWA NA NATIN LAHAT UPANG IBABA ANG PRESYO NG BIGAS’
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. clarified that he has yet to receive the formal recommendation of the Department of Agriculture on the proposed declaration of a food security emergency during his visit to Baruaen, Leyte on Friday.
This comes after rice prices remain high despite efforts to lower tariffs on imported rice.
“The reason that we are doing this is ginawa na natin lahat upang ibaba ang presyo ng bigas ngunit the market is not being allowed to work properly,” he explained.
“Hindi nasusundan ang demand and supply dahil hanggang ngayon, kahit ibaba mo lahat ng input, ang pagbenta pa rin, mataas pa rin,” he added.
A food security emergency declaration would enable the National Food Authority to release its rice buffer stocks to the market and replace them with locally grown palay. (Video courtesy of MPC)

“Well, ito ang katapusan ng lahat ng permanent housing—98 percent na ang nabuo na project para sa permanent housing para sa Yolanda, specific ito sa mga Yolanda victims,” Marcos said.
The President also noted that the projects had faced significant delays due to issues with the initial housing units, which he described as substandard.
“‘Yung unang ginawa na mga pabahay substandard, kulang sa kuryente, kulang sa tubig, walang kalsada, napakalayo kaya’t hindi masyadong nagamit,” he explained. (Video courtesy of MPC)
