October last year (2022), my wife and I decided to shift my career from culinary/hospitality to tech. A while ago (October 2023), I just did my first lead role tech interview. Wow! Just nine months ago, I got lots of instant rejections for entry-level roles that I applied for. I'm still waiting for the outcome, but to interview (3rd interview for this position) for a supervisory role in a big tech company is an achievement. Fingers crossed! Bottomline: Focus and work hard to reach your goals.

🚀 Excited to share about a recent project I completed for my NanoDegree in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning as an AWS Scholar at Udacity! 🎉

I had the amazing opportunity to work on an image classification project for a city dog show 🐶💻. The goal was to leverage my Python programming skills and apply them to improve the accuracy of a dog breed identification system. While the actual classifier was provided, my focus was on utilizing Python tools effectively.

For this image classification task, I worked with a deep learning model called a 🔬Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). CNNs excel at detecting image features such as colors, textures, and edges, enabling them to identify objects within images. In this project, I explored three different CNN architectures: AlexNet, VGG, and ResNet.

Choosing the right architecture is crucial for achieving optimal results. Each CNN architecture has its own unique structure and performance characteristics. By evaluating AlexNet, VGG, and ResNet, I could determine which architecture best suited our application's requirements.

To accelerate development, I utilized pre-trained 🧠 CNN models that had learned features from a massive dataset of 1.2 million images called ImageNet. These models provided a strong foundation for image classification, and I leveraged a classifier function to utilize their capabilities effectively.

This project not only enhanced my Python skills but also provided valuable insights into the world of deep learning, convolutional neural networks, and their application in image classification tasks. By evaluating different architectures and considering accuracy, runtime, and computational resources, I gained a deeper understanding of the trade-offs involved.

Applying for a job can be a challenging and stressful process for many people. It requires a lot of time, effort, and emotional resilience to cope with the uncertainty and competition.
