Hello, everyone! Hope you are all having a blast!

While we haven't streamed in a long time, it doesn't mean our community has not been very active. In fact, we, together with the members of Digital Combat Simulator Philippines just tested out having ATCs, GCI and AWACS in one of our test runs last night using LotAtc.

Despite some difficulties we've ran into last night, we were still able to do some vectorings and ATC calls. We will be ironing out these and will release a detailed guide on how you can join us too as an ATC, GCI or AWACS.

Once we get this new addition to our missions properly integrated, we'll be creating missions that would simulate real world ops where we will not be only managing weapon systems, watching out for our wingmen and keeping SA on our adversaries, we will now also be monitoring command and control, GCIs and ATCs.

And if you only want to join only as a controlling agency, you don't have to download DCS - just LotAtc and DCS:SRS. Although it would also be great if we can have you flying with us especially now that there are a lot of community made free aircraft for DCS such as the C-130 Hercules, A-29 Super Tucano, and many more!

Special thanks to our community members for greatly contributing to this effort.

F-16C high alpha pass.

Alpha is the engineering term (and fighter pilot slang) for angle of attack. This is the angle the wings meet the air at, or the angle between where the airplane is pointing and where it is going. At slower speeds, an airplane must increase its alpha (point the nose higher) in order to continue flying in a straight line.

High-alpha maneuvers are maneuvers performed at slow speeds with high angles of attack, close to a stall, demonstrating the aircraft's maximum maneuverability at slow speeds.

Drogue Chute, Dragging Chute, Drag Chute

A drogue parachute is a parachute designed for deployment from a rapidly-moving object. It can be used for various purposes, such as to decrease speed, to provide control and stability, or as a pilot parachute to deploy a larger parachute. Vehicles that have used drogue parachutes include multi-stage parachutes, aircraft, and spacecraft recovery systems.

The drogue parachute was invented by the Russian professor and parachute specialist Gleb Kotelnikov in 1912, who also invented the knapsack parachute. The Soviet Union introduced its first aircraft fitted with drogue parachutes during the mid 1930s; use of the technology expanded during and after the Second World War. A large number of jet-powered aircraft have been furnished with drogue parachutes, including the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress strategic bomber and the Eurofighter Typhoon multirole aircraft; they were also commonly used within manned space vehicle recovery programmes, including Project Mercury and Project Gemini. The drogue parachute has also been extensively used upon ejection seats as a means of stabilisation and deceleration.

SCRAMBLING

The term was used during the Battle of Britain, when Royal Air Force pilots and their fighters were readied and available to fly. Detection and monitoring of enemy aircraft, e.g. by the Chain Home radar stations, would feed into the RAF Fighter Command's Dowding system for control and management of the defenses. Once a decision had been made to intercept the enemy formation a telephone call would be made to the chosen fighter squadron's airfield, and those air crews available would be scrambled. The scramble order was communicated to alert pilots waiting by their aircraft by the loud ringing of a bell. Every minute lost before takeoff would be advantageous to the enemy, as it could allow a pilot to gain extra height above the advancing plane formations.

Information passed to the scrambling fighters included location and height: "Angels" with a number was used to describe height of aircraft, such as "Angels One Five" for aircraft approaching at 15,000 ft (4,600 m), and a rough estimate of numbers. Unidentified aircraft were known as bogeys, and known enemy ones were called bandits.

B777 preflight setup time lapse!

Hey guys, watch this very immersive video that we made for you to see how we prepare the airplane to fly. If you are a flight simmer who use PMDG, you can use this video as a reference to setup your virtual airplane for a virtual flight by the book!

Enjoy this immersive cockpit video of us setting up the aircraft for a long flight out of Los Angeles to Manila. Everything you see here is based on the book...

“Your best teacher is your last mistake.” –unknown

Our very own “Cougar’s” first solo flight is something that he will remember forever. It’s an accomplishment to be proud of, a confidence-builder and, well, it’s just fun! During their first solo flight, the student will fly a few loops in the pattern and gain confidence in his or her own flight abilities – without an instructor coaching them. It’s a time when making mistakes is a good thing – student pilots often learn the most when by themselves and making mistakes on their own.

Stay tuned for more real life aviation videos here in Bank & Yank channel. Soon, we will be posting tutorials on how to operate our machines utilizing real aircraft on a real flying environment.

SOLO - An important step along to path of pilot wings.
