Successful Tree Planting and Clean-Up Drive in Barangay Manga, Pagadian City.


Kuta Dao, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – The 547th Engineer “Agila” Battalion, under the leadership of LTC BENJAMIN B CARAG II CE (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, partnered with Barangay Officials, local residents, Kalambu-an Parents Project, Youth Organization, and PAFCPIC Pagadian Branch for a successful Tree Planting and Clean-Up Drive in Purok 9, Barangay Manga, Pagadian City, this morning.


This initiative focused on enhancing local biodiversity through the planting of over 200 assorted non-fruit bearing trees, chosen specifically for their suitability to the region. The trees were strategically planted along roadsides and in vacant lots to help combat soil erosion, enhance air quality, and create habitats for native wildlife.


Simultaneously, participants engaged in a clean-up drive at the local waterfalls, a promising yet underdeveloped tourist destination. The effort not only contributed to the area’s cleanliness but also aimed to raise awareness about the importance of proper waste management and reducing plastic waste. Volunteers collected nearly 30 extra-large garbage bags of refuse for responsible disposal, highlighting the community’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

The tree planting and clean-up initiative at Barangay Manga marks a significant step toward fostering a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Pagadian City. With continued community support, the 547th Engineer Battalion is dedicated to implementing further eco-friendly initiatives that will enhance the quality of life for all residents.

547 Engineer "Agila" Battalion Recognized for Outstanding Contribution at MASTS Friendship Games 2024.

KUTA DAO, PAGADIAN CITY—The 547 Engineer "Agila" Battalion, under the leadership of LTC BENJAMIN B CARAG II CE (GSC) PA, received a commendation for its exceptional contributions as part of the Event Management Team during the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Friendship Games 2024. The games were held from November 24-29, 2024, at J.H. Cerilles State College in partnership with the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur.

The official recognition was presented during the Christmas Party Celebration of J.H. Cerilles State College on December 14, 2024 at the Provincial Complex Mega Gym located within the Provincial Government Compound in Barangay Dao, Pagadian City. The award was graciously accepted by CPT RHEANDJELLY S DAUG (CE) PA, Civil-Military Operations Officer on behalf of LTC BENJAMIN B CARAG II CE (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer.

This award not only acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the 547 Engineer "Agila" Battalion but also emphasizes the importance of teamwork, discipline, and resilience values that mirror the spirit of the MASTS Friendship Games. The event provided a platform for students to showcase their athletic talents while fostering unity and friendship among participating institutions.

"With this recognition, it highlights and reflects our unwavering commitment to support sports activities and promote camaraderie, sportsmanship, and a sense of community among tertiary institutions in the region."

Kuta Dao, Pagadian City: The 547 Engineer 'Agila' Battalion, led by LTC BENJAMIN B CARAG II CE (GSC) PA was honored with a prestigious award in recognition of the outstanding contribution of the unit in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) during the 4th Quarter Full Council Meeting and Year-End Fellowship conducted by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) IX on December 11, 2024 at Four Queen Resort, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Meanwhile, the activity brought together the key stakeholders from various sectors to discuss the year’s accomplishments, challenges, and plans for enhancing disaster preparedness and response in the whole region.

With these, the 547 Engineer “Agila” Battalion is dedicated to its commitment and proactive involvement in enhancing disaster preparedness, response, and recovery operations with a collaborative effort with local government units, humanitarian organizations, and other stakeholders in improving disaster resilience community.

As 2024 draws to a close, the 547 Engineer Battalion remains steadfast in serving the community and enhancing disaster preparedness in partnership with the RDRRMC IX as it shows a vital role and testament to the collaborative efforts needed to safeguard lives and properties in the whole region of Zamboanga Peninsula.

A Heartfelt Thanksgiving Mass and Year-End Celebration at 547th Engineer “Agila” Battalion.

Kuta Dao, Pagadian City – In a meaningful and spiritually uplifting event, the 547th Engineer “Agila” Battalion, under the leadership of LTC BENJAMIN B. CARAG II CE (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, held a Thanksgiving Mass at the New Battalion Mess Hall on December 8, 2024.

The Mass, which marked the conclusion of the year’s activities, was more than just a ceremonial occasion—it was an opportunity to reflect on the many blessings, guidance, and protection that the unit has received throughout the year.

As the year draws to a close, the 547th Engineer Battalion took a moment to pause and express gratitude for the triumphs, challenges, and growth the unit has experienced. It was a time to honor the divine presence that has guided the Battalion's mission and ensured its success in both the field and in the lives of its personnel. The Thanksgiving Mass served as a reminder that true abundance begins with gratitude.

The ceremony was also an opportunity to celebrate the families of the Agila Troopers. As part of the event, the Battalion conducted the christening of the children of its personnel, a symbolic act of faith and community.
