LEYECO V has announced an increase in power rates for January 2025, following last monthโs reduction. Residential consumers will experience electricity rate increase to Php13.3126 per kWh, compared to Php11.5213 per kWh in December 2024, marking an increase of Php1.7913 per kWh. The hike is largely attributed to higher generation costs, which typically account for more than half of a consumer's monthly power bill. Additionally, the transmission charge has risen by Php0.0822, driven by increased costs from Ancillary Services-Reserve Market.
In light of these changes, LEYECO V encourages its Member-Consumer-Owners (MCOs) to adopt energy-saving practices to help manage costs. Simple measures, such as unplugging devices when not in use, can reduce "phantom load," which refers to electricity consumed by idle devices.
By cutting down on this unnecessary energy use, households can keep electricity bills more manageable. For concerns or assistance, including reporting power outages, MCOs can reach LEYECO V through its page (Leyte V Electric Cooperative, Inc.), via mobile at 09178363895, or by calling (053) 839-3920 to 3921.
