Romblon State University (RSU) hosted an exploratory meeting with representatives from National University (NU) on February 4, 2025, in the RSU Board Room.

The meeting focused on identifying the strengths of both institutions in areas such as education, National Service Training Program (NSTP), research, and extension services.

During the discussions, both parties explored potential collaborative efforts aimed at advancing their respective programs and enhancing educational opportunities for students and faculty.

The collaboration aims to create synergies through combined strengths, ultimately contributing to the development of innovative solutions for societal challenges.

Both institutions pledged to working together to enrich the national educational landscape.

Estares, a RSUvian Criminology student and beauty queen, is passionate about empowering ASEAN youth through leadership and education, advancing 𝐒𝐃𝐆𝐬 𝟒 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟖—quality education and decent work for economic growth. Despite economic hardships, her experiences fueled an advocacy for education as a tool for change.

She launched "Walking Together and Striving for the Better" to inspire children to value education and sustainability. 2. The race follows an 𝐗𝐂𝐌 (𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧) 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐦𝐢𝐱 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐝, 𝐨𝐟𝐟-𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧.
3. 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 must be worn 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 for accurate tracking. Failure to wear the timing chip will result in 𝐧𝐨 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 recorded.
4. Participants must wear their 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐛 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐬 throughout the event.
5. 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐬 (string bag, cycling shirt, bib, helmet & bike number tags, race guide, water bottle, and timing chip) must be claimed during the attendance checking.
6. All participants must ensure their 𝐛𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 before the race.
7. 𝐍𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 is allowed except for official race and medical personnel.
8. Participants must stay on the 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 and follow all signage.

⏱️ 1. Participants will be provided a 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐩 upon registration, which must be securely fastened to the 𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞.
⏱️ 2. Timing chips 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 during the race. Any lost or damaged timing chip will result in disqualification.
⏱️ 3. Official race time will be based on the 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 recorded at checkpoints and the finish line.
⏱️ 4. Participants must ensure they pass over the 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐬 at all checkpoints to log their time.
⏱️ 5. Failure to register a time at any segment may result in disqualification, subject to review by race officials.
⏱️ 6. Timing chips 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 after the race; failure to do so may result in a penalty.

🚵 2. Only 𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬 (𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧) are allowed. 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞-𝐛𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝.

4. 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐬 (string bag, cycling shirt, bib, helmet & bike number tags, race guide, water bottle, and timing chip) must be claimed during the attendance checking.

🏊 1. The swim segment will be conducted in open water. Wetsuits are 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝.
🏊 2. Goggles are allowed.
🏊 3. Athletes must 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (e.g., being towed or held afloat).
🏊 4. Any form of 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 to other swimmers will lead to penalties.
🏊 5. Athletes must follow the designated swim course marked by buoys.
🏊 6. 𝐂𝐮𝐭-𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞: 30 minutes.

𝗕𝗜𝗞𝗘 𝗥𝗨𝗟𝗘𝗦 (𝟯𝟬𝗸𝗺):
🚴 1. All participants must use a 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝-𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐲 bicycle (mountain bikes and road bikes are allowed).
🚴 2. 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐧 and properly fastened at all times during the cycling segment.
🚴 3. Drafting is not allowed – maintain a 𝟑-𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐚𝐩 from other cyclists unless overtaking.
🚴 4. Participants must stay on the designated 𝐛𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 and obey road traffic rules.
🚴 5. 𝐍𝐨 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬, 𝐦𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬, 𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 are allowed during the bike segment.
🚴 6. If a participant has a mechanical failure, they must fix it themselves or withdraw from the race.

🔄 2. Bikes must be 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 before proceeding to the next segment.
🔄 3. Participants must wear their 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐛𝐢𝐤𝐞 in the transition zone.
🔄 4. No riding is allowed in the transition area – athletes must walk their bikes out before mounting.
🔄 5. Personal equipment must be neatly placed in the assigned 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (RSU-HRMO) successfully conducted the 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻/𝗥𝗲-𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 for newly hired and promoted regular employees at the RSU Main Campus. This initiative underscores RSU’s dedication to cultivating a knowledgeable and empowered workforce, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).

The morning session began with 𝗗𝗿. 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗧. 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗹, 𝗗𝗕𝗔, 𝗖𝗣𝗔, Vice President for Administration & Finance, who discussed RSU’s Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Quality Policy, ensuring that employees align with the institution’s goals. Following this, 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗚𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗻 𝗡𝗶𝗻̃𝗼 𝗠. 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼, Vice President for Legal and Student Affairs and Services, provided an overview of the Organizational Structure, University Officials, Attendance and Working Hours, and Dress Code, equipping employees with essential knowledge on university protocols.

In the afternoon, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗚. 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗼 of the Quality Assurance Office led the Quality Management System Orientation, emphasizing RSU’s commitment to continuous improvement. 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗲 𝗥. 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗮 and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘆 𝗠. 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼 of Research, Extension, Development, and Innovation delivered a session on Research and Extension, highlighting its significance in academic and community development. 𝗠𝘀. 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗙. 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝘇, Administrative Assistant III, tackled Pay and Pay Periods, ensuring employees understand payroll processes. 𝗠𝘀. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗠. 𝗚𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻, Head of HRMO, then discussed Leave Privileges and Rules, providing insights into employee benefits. 𝗠𝗿. 𝗔𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗟. 𝗖𝘂𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘀, Supervising Administrative Officer, followed with a session on Performance Evaluation, stressing the importance of assessment and professional growth. Closing the seminar’s discussions, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗙. 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘀𝗼 𝗝𝗿., Director of MIS and Data Privacy Officer, presented the Data Privacy Act, reinforcing the importance of compliance and data protection.

To conclude the event, 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗚𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗻 𝗡𝗶𝗻̃𝗼 𝗠. 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼 delivered the Closing Remarks, emphasizing the significance of employee dedication and adherence to university policies. 𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The Romblon State University community, dressed in the newly CSC prescribed Filipiniana attire, gathers with Korean visitors for the Flag Raising Ceremony, WURI recognition, and REDI awarding yesterday, January 27, 2025.

University President Prof. Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani, alongside the University Vice Presidents, and the RSU employees were joined by the With English Academy visitors led by their Director, Ms. Bak Eunhwa during the morning ceremony.

During the ceremony, the RSU International Relations Office welcomed visitors who were participants in the English Seminar 2025. Miss Bak Eunhwa, Ms. Sherry, Ms. Lily, Miss Cindy, and the Korean Coordinators introduced themselves wearing their traditional Hanbok as part of IRO’s a program in bridging cultures, enhancing language skills, and opening doors to global opportunities.

Meanwhile, the IRO also awarded the contributors, writers, and editors, the workforce behind the University’s preparation of the World University Rankings Innovation (WURI) 2025 entries.

The office also awarded the National Service Training Program Office (NSTP Office), College of Computing, Multimedia Arts and Digital Innovation (CCMADI), College of Business and Accountancy (CBA), Administration Building Offices, RSU Romblon Campus, and RSU Sta. Fe Campus, winners of the Sustainable Giving Initiative for UNI-CESS Project.

Moreover, the Research, Development, and Innovation Unit awarded the faculty members with completed internal and external research projects, publications, and registered Intellectual Property, a testament to the University's active research endeavors.

President Mani closed the ceremony with a note, “Let us all be happy and rejoice, as there is a lot of work to do. That would mean better RSU, higher-level RSU, and a more progressive RSU.”
