OCTOBER 7 | FEAST OF OUR LADY QUEEN OF THE MOST HOLY ROSARY

---
Our Lady Queen of the Most Holy Rosary is a revered title of the Virgin Mary, celebrated on October 7th. This devotion began in the 16th century when Pope Pius V, a Dominican, established it to honor Mary’s role in the Christian victory at the Battle of Lepanto. The Order of Preachers, or Dominicans, closely associates with the Rosary, as tradition holds that Mary gave it to St. Dominic to aid in spreading the faith. Since then, the Dominicans have promoted the Rosary as a powerful prayer, reflecting on the life of Christ and seeking Mary’s intercession.

DEACON AND FOUNDER OF THE FRANCISCANS

---
St. Francis of Assisi, celebrated on October 4, was born in 1181 in Italy. Once a wealthy young man, he underwent a profound conversion after encountering Christ’s call to "rebuild my Church." Renouncing his riches, Francis embraced a life of poverty and service. Known for his deep love for the poor, the marginalized, and all creation, he founded the Franciscan Order in 1209. His humility, simplicity, and compassion continue to inspire people worldwide, especially in his care for the environment and animals, for which he is also honored.

On September 13, Holy Rosary Academy Guimaras celebrated the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a solemn and heartfelt mass led by Fr. Sherwin Valenzuela, RCJ. The event, which began at 8:00 AM, was marked by a strong sense of unity as students, faculty, and parents gathered for the occasion.

Father Sherwin’s homily centered on the significance of the Virgin Mary’s role in salvation history. He urged the students to follow Mary's example of unwavering trust in God, reminding them to build their lives on a strong spiritual foundation.

The celebration also included an offertory with contributions from the school community, and a moving communion service. After the mass, the PTA officers took their oaths, promising to serve with dedication.

In the second part of the event, students presented a floral offering to the Blessed Virgin Mary, followed by an interpretive dance from the high school students, all in honor of Mary’s special day.

The day underscored the school’s commitment to faith, unity, and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
