The second day of NSTW brought excitement and joy to LSHS students as more activities and competitions were introduced. The second part of the event started with a warm welcome from the LSHS family to the honorable guest speaker, Jonathan O. Hernandez also known as "Ethan Hernandez". He is a licensed forester, a researcher, an entrepreneur, and a content creator with over 250 thousand followers on his page. He inspired aspiring students to promote the spread of science information using social media.

After Hernandez delivered his speech, The 3 Minute Topic competition began. The contestants showed their creativity and intelligence in just 3 minutes. Green Costasiella captured the 3rd and 4th place meanwhile the Golden Damsels dominated the podium by securing the 1st and 2nd place.

After the competition, the LSHS students were invited to visit the National History Collection Museum which encourages the young students to witness the history of different specimens, minerals, and organisms that came from different parts of the Philippines.

In the afternoon, the E-Design Mo! competition started. In Grades 7 and 8 Category, Golden Damsels and Blue Vellela grabbed the 1st and 2nd place, respectively. Meanwhile, in Grades 9 and 10 Category, every shoal finished on the podium as the Blue Vellela and Golden Damsels shared the Bronze Medal meanwhile Red Nishikigoi was proclaimed as Champions.

"Although we did not capture the 1st place, I'm still grateful to be allowed to participate in this competition. Obsuna said during an interview.

On the other hand, a member of the winning team thanked her seniors for their efforts and sacrifices. "I think the time my seniors used and the efforts we put in for our e-design, from the prototype design to the presentation, all of the stress and sakit sa ulo will be deemed worth it. Winners or not, definitely worth it for the fun experience and the sole privilege of participating in the contest." Roldan replied during an interview.

As the celebration of NSTW ended, the LSHS students were glad to be given a chance to experience this unique and important event. Huge kudos to the Student Body Organization and the Faculty Members for organizing this event.

This annual observance, led by the Department of Education (DepEd), is a nationwide call to nurture literacy and foster a culture of reading. It emphasizes the crucial roles families, schools, and communities play in shaping a generation that finds joy in books and learning. Through simple acts like reading aloud to children or creating spaces filled with printed materials, we open doors to lifelong literacy and provide opportunities for growth and discovery.

This celebration is also a call to action for inclusivity. Vulnerable groups, particularly those with limited access to books, require special attention to ensure they are not left behind. Studies show that early and consistent support for at-risk readers significantly enhances their skills and enjoyment of reading. By providing diverse materials and targeted interventions, we can turn reading from a daunting task into an enriching experience for everyone. National Reading Month reminds us that literacy is not just a skill but a right, and every child deserves a chance to explore the endless worlds within the pages of a book.

Let us renew our commitment to making reading an integral part of our daily lives. From storytelling sessions to book drives, each effort contributes to building a community of readers. More than just a celebration, this month is an opportunity to inspire lifelong learning and empower individuals to dream beyond the limits of their circumstances. Together, we can cultivate a love for reading that transcends age, background, and barriers, paving the way for a more literate and empowered Philippines.
