[4TH KABATAAN FESTIVAL l SPOTLIGHT]

POBLACION YOUTHS' NURSERY OF NATIVE TREES EMBARKS

Native Trees Nursery run by the 4Ks Poblacion Nabunturan with the assistance of SK Poblacion Nabunturan and Nabunturan Native Trees Enthusiast (NNTE) was successfully launched during the 4th Kabataan Festival on August 13, 2021 at the Purok 18 NCDC Compound.

"A long time dream turned into a reality", the establishment of nursery as described by SK Chairperson Ian Philip T. Balatico during his message. He emphasized the endless support to the 4Ks on the continuation of this project. He hoped that this project will be a great help for the propagation of Native Trees.

Training was first set by the NNTE as also they gave plenty of seeds for propagation under the nursery.

Ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by 4Ks members, SK Officials, Barangay Kagawad Romeo Maranan and NNTE Vice Chair Mark Comeling.

5 Teams competed in the Call of Duty Tournament during the Opening Day of the 4th Kabataan Festival last August 8, 2021 at the 3rd Floor, Barangay Hall, Poblacion, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro.

Bravo 6 won the tournament.

AWARDING OF TEN OUTSTANDING YOUTH CULMINATES THE 4TH KABATAAN FESTIVAL

Ten Outstanding Youth of Poblacion Nabunturan (TOYPN) was awarded during the Closing Program of the 4th Kabataan Festival last August 14, 2021 at the Prosperity Hall.

The said award was given to an outstanding youth in their fields of expertise chosen by the Screening Committee from the sets of nominees by the nominators.

Poblacion youth leaders presented the TOYPN Awardees with their respective citations. Punong Barangay Debie G. Tan, at the same time the Guest Speaker, with SK Chairperson Ian Philip T. Balatico and Local Youth Development Officer Don Kryle Sy presented their Plaque of Recognition, Barangay Resolution, Cash incentives and Medals.

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY MOTORCADE: A SUCCESS!

In celebration of the 2021 International Youth Day and 4th Kabataan Festival, the SK Poblacion Nabunturan headed by SK Chair Ian Philip T. Balatico successfully conducted a Motorcade around the Barangay Poblacion Nabunturan on August 12, 2021.

The vibrant motorcade was participated by different youngsters of the Barangay as well as Private and Public partners and stakeholders such as RRDC Davao de Oro Chapter, PNP Nabunturan and others.

PROJECT BINHI : BACKYARD GARDENING CONTEST (ORNAMENTAL PLANTS EDITION) SHOW OFF

Panel of Judges conducted their on-sight judging on the Project Binhi: Backyard Gardening Contest- Ornamental Plants Edition during the 4th Kabataan Festival on August 11, 2021.

The judges saw the wonderful gardens of the young people, presenting different varieties of ornamental plants in their backyard.

It has been a 'show off' of gardens by young plantitos and plantitas and boosted their confidence in taking care of plants amidst the pandemic.

Ms. Femaleen Seth Bacerra of Purok 19 won the said competition as she presented their 'garden of eve' concept of their ornamental garden. As a family of plantitos and plantitas, she seems proud of their family achievement doing hand-in-hand preserving and rearing the plants since 1998.

POBLACION YOUTH MATCH OF 'BRAINS': ASEAN SUPER QUIZ BEE

"A battle and match of brains, testing their knowledge on ASEAN, General Information"
SK Poblacion Nabunturan headed by SK Chairperson Ian Philip T. Balatico spearheaded the conduct of the ASEAN Super Quiz Bee during the 4th Kabataan Festival last August 12, 2021 at the 3rd Floor, Barangay Hall, Poblacion, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro.

The said quiz bee was patterned in the format of the ASEAN Quiz Bee. It was divided into two segments- Segment 1 with True or False and Multiple Choice and Segment 2 with Fill in the Blank-type of quiz.

Ms. April Joy Baliga of Purok 9 bested the 14 Poblacion youth competed in this quiz bee.

[BIGGER AND BETTER SAFE SPACE FOR THE POBLACION YOUTH]

Welcome to the new Youth Development Hub of the Barangay Poblacion Nabunturan, Davao de Oro!

This 3-room structure located at the 2nd floor of the 3-storey new Barangay Hall of Poblacion shall house the Sangguniang Kabataan and the Katipunan ng Kabataan of Poblacion Nabunturan.

The first room shall be the SK Session Hall while the second room is the Teen Center/ E-Library/Tech4Ed/Audio-visual facility and reception area. The third room will be the SK Chairperson's Office with SK Secretary's and Treasurer's desk.

After having occupied atleast two previous temporary offices, the SK shall permanently settle on its new home.

"Daghang Salamat sa atong Barangay Council headed by Punong Barangay Debie G. Tan for the full support on the realization of this dream of having a home for the youth. This will serve as a legacy to the Poblacion Youth in this generation up to the next gen of youth. Also, daghang salamat Cong. Ruwel Peter Gonzaga for this 3-storey building where our new office is located. We are all grateful!", happily expressed by SK Chairperson Ian Philip T. Balatico, who eagerly pushed and lobbied in the council for the realization of this office.

SK POBLACION NABUNTURAN SECURES A SPOT IN THE TOP 23

Magarbuhong Nabunturanon!

SK Poblacion Nabunturan headed by SK Chairperson Ian Philip T. Balatico secured a spot in the Top 23 Finalists of the 2nd National Search for Outstanding SK Project Awards spearheaded by Positive Youth Development Network , as announced earlier today.

Participated by hundreds of SK Councils nationwide, SK Poblacion, with its project Ang Buntod Publication under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Randy Ernest Gestosani gained a place in the Active Citizenship and Governance Category.

The project qualifies for another round, the Online expo and Panel Interview. The said round will choose the outstanding 3 per category.

Balatico shares SK Poblacion's best governance practices via SKL Series

SK Chairperson and SKL's Resource Person, Ian Philip T. Balatico gracefully shared the best practices of the SK Poblacion Nabunturan on Governance in a national webinar series dubbed as the Sangguniang Kabataan Lead- Share Ko Lang (SKL), spearheaded by the National Youth Commission- Sangguniang Kabataan, on July 14, 2021 via ZOOM.

Attended by around 300 SK leaders around the country, Balatico expressed SK Poblacion's good track record with ita best practices especially about the Project iVOTE. Project iVOTE is a Voters' Education and Registration Assistance Program of the SK Poblacion.

He raised a powerful endstatement that SK can do more. Give its best shot and do everything for the youth. Online participants were also inspired of his story as a youth leader at the same time undergoing Hemodialysis treatment for four years already.

Aside from Balatico, two important guests also shared their part on good governance under Voters' Education.

SEARCH FOR BACKYARD GARDENING COMPETITION 2021
The Green thumb Challenge

Mechanics:
-The contest is open to all plantita/plantito youth of Poblacion, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro under the age range of 15-30 years old.
-The contest will be in two (2) categories, Ornamental Gardening and FAITH (Food Always In The Home) /Vegetable Gardening and will be judge separately.
-Each participant shall choose only one (1) category to be participated.
-SLOTS ARE LIMITED. Only 10 participants for Ornamental Gardening while 10 participants for the Vegetable Gardening or FAITH.
-A combination of plots, pots and container gardening concept is accepted.
-The garden should have at least more than 5 varieties of plants and vegetables.
-The participants must submit a best photo entry of their garden and a short description.
-An actual judging of gardens per category shall be done.
-Submit your entry via email address: [email protected] together with the following information: NAME, AGE, BIRTHDAY, PUROK, CONTACT NO., GENDER, AND A SHORT DESCRIPTION of the photo;
-Deadline of submission is on August 7, 2021 at 3:00 PM

-Must be 15-30 years old;
-Must be a bona fide resident of Poblacion, Nabunturan for at least 6 months;
-Must have attended at least one (1) SK Online Tambayan Series Webinar;
-Must be willing to join Ang Buntod as a member.

-The participants shall fill the registration form and their entry will be validated by the following criteria mentioned above.
-If the participants are validated, they will be invited to attend an orientation before the competition proper will commence. The orientation shall include (a) a short overview of what the competition is all about; (b) an input on creative writing; and (c) criteria for judging (refer to the table below).
-After the orientation, the countdown in submitting the letter will begin. The writers will be given one (1) day to write, revise, and submit their output. They will pass their output via Google Form posted in SK Poblacion, Nabunturan page.
-Judges will critique the output of each writer in the next few days. After judging, announcement of winner will take place and the winning entry will be used as a letter given to the frontliners.
-The medium to be used in writing the letter is BISAYA. A minimum of 300 words and a maximum of 1000 words shall be observed in the entry.
