the narrowest winning margin in the history of multi-stage races in Philippine cycling is just 12.56 seconds? This record was set on April 13, 1981, in a fierce competition between two cyclists from Pangasinan: two-time champion (1981-1982) Jacinto Sicam from San Manuel, and the 1981 runner-up, Fermin Zabala from Bautista. During the 1981 Marlboro Tour of the Philippines, the 27-year-old Jacinto Sicam proudly maintained his slim 12.56-second lead against his main rival, Fermin Zabala, throughout the final leg from Dagupan City to KB Stadium in Quezon City.
