With the collaboration of the Association of Concerned Computer Engineering Students - URSM(ACCESS) and the Future Engineers' Club(FEC), the Cosplay Convention and Competition themed: Valor, was an astounding success. Many characters from a variety of franchises were shown and they captivated the hearts and sights of the audience present at URSM Gymnasium. As cosplayers from different programs from the College of Engineering graces us with their presence, bringing characters into reality and embodying their aspects either from video game or anime, the whole department responded with their praise for each participant. Strings of Fate: Sanvictores Gold Medal sa STRASUC 2023 Notang may tamang presyon, intonasyon, at emosyon– ito ang mga naging susi sa pagkamit ng gintong medalya ng freshman student mula sa BSE Mathematics na si Dwight Frederick Sanvictores sa 7th Southern Tagalog Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (STRASUC) Solo Violin Competition na ginanap sa Occidental Mindoro. Aminado si Dwight na ang tagumpay ay hindi lamang bunga ng natural na talento, kung hindi pati na rin ng matinding pagsisikap sa sining ng musika. Kaugnay nito, ang pagmamahal sa musika ang kaniyang naging unang ‘string’ patungong tagumpay— na bagama’t walang sariling biyolin, hindi ito naging hadlang upang tumigil siya sa pagtugtog nito. Sa katunayan, nagkaroon siya ng tapang na hingin ang tulong ng kanyang guro at ng lokal na komunidad upang makahanap ng biyolin na gagamitin sa kompetisyon. Ayon kay Dwight, ang Korean Group na “Gracias Choir” ang naging motibasyon niya sa pagtugtog ng mga klasikong musika. “Sila ‘yung group na naging inline yung repertoire nila sa music taste ko. Hindi lang ito classical, kung hindi worship song din”, saad nito. "Luke 1:37, For with God nothing shall be impossible. Tiwala lang talaga sa Kaniya. He gives us strength, ability and talent. And sa lahat ng gustong mag-pursue ng goals nila, just keep going. Try lang nang try dahil wala namang mawawala kung susubukan," pahayag ni Dwight . Ang pag-aaral sa tradisyunal na sining tulad ng pagtugtog ng biyolin ay nagbibigay-aliw hindi lamang ng musikal na karanasan kung hindi nagtataglay din ng disiplina at kahusayan sa larangan ng musika. Sa kabilang dako, ang kanyang hilig sa pag-eedit at paggamit ng kompyuter ay naglalaman ng modernong ekspresyon ng kanyang pagkamalikhain na nagbubukas ng mga oportunidad sa larangan ng digital na sining at teknolohiya. "𝗖𝗨𝗠 𝗟𝗔𝗨𝗗𝗘 𝗡𝗔 𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗔 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗢..." To qualify for Latin Honors (Cum Laude), students shall maintain a grade lower than 1.9 in all academic subjects. This is the policy written in the Student Handbook of the University of Rizal System. "Tutuloy pa rin naman 'yung buhay [kahit] hindi ako magkakaroon ng Latin Honors after graduation.." Leane Mae Orca, an aspiring graduating student from the College of Education, shows dedication and perseverance to continue her studies despite having only one 2.0 grade— an occurrence that disqualifies her from being Cum Laude. "Ginawa ko lang 'yung best ko lalo, kahit na given na may dos (2.0) na ako, na hindi na ako magkakaroon ng Latin Honors." Leane admitted that the realization of not having Latin Honors in graduation affected her self-esteem and capabilities, but eventually managed to regain herself with the support she continuously received from her family. "Sa kanila, hindi ko naramdaman 'yung disappointment. Naramdaman ko na despite of not having the Laude, ramdam ko pa rin na very supportive and tanggap nila kung ano man 'yung achievement na makukuha ko," said Leane. As Leane considered it a turning point in her life, she said to herself that she have to accept it wholeheartedly; she will no longer be a Cum Laude, as it will start to open for new opportunities. As a piece of advice, Leane's reminder to the students who are aiming for Latin Honors in the future is to be motivated enough, do your best to study, and move forward to avoid being stagnant, no matter what happens. Leane is in favor to revise the student handbook policy regarding Latin Honor to at least consider having a 2.0 grade, just like in other State Universities. Arguably, updating it is the biggest 'what if' for the students, especially those who want to pursue Latin Honors like Leane. Demanding but it's worth asking for. "Nabigyan ko ng justice 'yung paghihirap; 'yung preparation namin na ginawa." LOOK: Mark Angelo San Juan, the Mister University 2023 from the College of Science, recalls his crowning moment in an interview with The Legacy. "Worth it lahat ng pagod at effort na nailaan namin. Ng mga program heads, ng COS faculty, ng buong COS since napakadami nilang naiambag sa journey namin na ito," he said. Mark Angelo also encourages everyone to step out of their comfort zone. "H'wag ka lang lagi sa kung saan ka komportable. Dapat mag-try ka rin ng ibang bagay na sa tingin mo ay kaya mo naman," he added. His main advocacy is about environmental empowerment. LOOK as Miss University 2023, Charlene Mae Alvarez, from the College of Education, shows her sophistication as a crown holder during the interview. "I am a living testimony na whatever shape you are, whatever body, whatever face [you have], you can be called as a Beauty Queen," said Charlene. Charlene viewed her winning as her answered prayer. The home of MAARTE, MAKINANG, MAGILAS Take a look at the members of Teatro Kagilalasan as they share their memorable experiences as actors and actresses. "Dito sa Teatro, kahit hindi ka kagalingan pero 'yung heart mo okay, 'yung attitude mo okay, talagang magiging magaling ka; bilang isang aktor [at] bilang isang production member," said the Founding President, Kimberlie Ann Austria. "Every micro effort will have a macro effect" In an interview with The Legacy, officers of Buklurang Gabay Patnubay shared their stories on conducting community service and extension programs. "Meron kaming quotation o parang mantra sa BGP: ito 'yong serving with a heart, a passion, and a purpose," said out-going president Edric San Antonio. According to Trisha Rivera, the community service is College of Science's extension program, spearheaded by the BHS program. BGP officers together with BHS students and College of Science as one will continue their mission of helping those who are in need. #TheLegacy2022

[LOOK] In an interview with The Legacy, Sir Justin Garrovillas, ranked 8th in the January 2022 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) Secondary Level, shared his journey to the top. "To all aspiring Licensed Professional Teachers, I was once in your shoes too. Always keep persevering regardless of your intellect and talent, because hard work always beat both. Thank you to all my family, colleagues, and all the profesors in URSM and COE for their continous support even way back in college. And most of all, I thank God, The One Above All, for this Blessing." Justin Garrovillas, LPT, graduated with BSE-Biological Science degree in 2019.
