In 1996, this school was under the supervision of TESDA (Technical education skills development authority) for 2 years only. The following year, the school applied as a venue of Western Mindanao State University External Studies Unit in order to cater the needs of the college students. Considering the physical area occupied by the school, MVTS is the biggest high school in Salug Valley Area comprising 6 municipalities of Tambulig, Mahayag, Josefina, Ramon Magsaysay and Dumingag.
