Synopsis:
In this dark fantasy dance film—a localized adaptation of the classic fairytale The Red Shoes by Hans Christian Andersen—ballet teacher Mila feels threatened by her promising student Demi, someone whose progress she may want to sabotage. After class, Mila feels just as discouraged as she deals with the everyday inconveniences that define the current commuting crisis in this country, a situation that pushes her to walk home despite the blister on her feet. When she finds red ballet flats on the street, she feels drawn to put them on… until she discovers that the shoes have taken control of her body, forcing her to dance against her will. She dances her way through the city’s now empty streets, until she reaches her student’s house. When Demi sees Mila, she decides to join her in a dance-off with dire consequences: The red shoes end up on Demi’s feet. The curse has been passed on. What haunts Mila in the end is the damage she indirectly inflicted upon Demi, who will bear the physical and emotional scars of their encounter for the rest of her life.
